VHTV Forum Roadmap

You better get a handle on these topics or things are going to end up a mess just like the archives. Better get things organized quickly. You need to separate the general topics from the apartments and have the apt specific topics fall under the top level apt. Thing are going get s__ttered quickly.

Just got a message that my comment needed to be 20 characters in order to post. What good is that?

@VHTV_James The quote idea doesnā€™t work all that great especially if the user is on a mobile device. What happens is this. I scrub the words to make a quote, but then my device pops up a menu (select, select all, copy, paste), you get the idea. This issue is that this menu covers over the blue quote button and I canā€™t click it in order to create the quote.

You really need a separate quote button, perhaps even a way to select multiple quotes from 2 different posts.

@VHTV_James You may want to consider making it so users have to upload pics directly into the forum. What happens if you donā€™t and you allow third party uploads is the person uploading the pics just has to cut the link and bam! All of their pics no longer work leaving your forum with broken links all over the place where pics one were. It looks bad.

Also consider limiting the number of posts a person can delete per day.

I agree, there should be a limit there, to prevent spamming, but the exact number of posts might need to be adjusted. 3 was too little, but maybe 5-6 is more suitable. The problem is if you have an apartment topic that is pretty dead, and it is only one member trying to keep it alive. Making a few post each day, but then has to stop, because no one else has posted inbetween. Maybe there could be a time limit that lifts this restriction.

I am in favour of that restriction. Atleast on the RLC forums on CamCamps there has been a problem with trolls who quote every post they see, just to say ā€œI agreeā€, ā€œI disagreeā€, ā€œyouā€™re dumbā€, etc. With a limit like that it f___es you to actually contribute with something.

Working on it this week. Suggestions are very welcome.

Sounds wrong, yet cannot disagree with @ed2ā€™s (VHTV Forum Roadmap - #46 by ed2). Maybe 15 characters would work better. Letā€™s discuss it further, but for now Iā€™m leaving 20 characters limit.

We will run the tests on different devices to see the problem youā€™re seeing. In case itā€™s identified we will think on how to act. Either we apply temporary fix (if possible), or we will request Discourse team to investigate and apply global fix to upcoming versions.

We donā€™t see a problem with that. Current forum software makes it easy to paste images from files/clipboard or to dragā€™nā€™drop them to composer window. Instead of limiting strategy we should think about convenience strategy.

Thereā€™s max of 10 posts per day one user can delete.

Thereā€™s max of 2 posts per minute one user can delete.

You already can, just make the quote, then scroll up and mark the next thing you want to quote.

Are the tenants allowed to open the forum and read about their apartments? Or it is now allowed to prevent them from feeling that people look at them?

Yes they are free to do that.

Hey everyone,

We did some updates to forum since launch, and we have lots to be done going forward, which is very good.

Just letting everyone know that thereā€™s a bug in production preventing avatar group flairs to be shown. This was acknowledged by Discourse devs and we hope to get rid of the bug in upcoming days.

Meanwhile, you are welcome to give forum feedback & ideas to Forum Feedback - Voyeur House TV Forum category

What did you update?

Check the first post. We add new stuff to Todo and cross done things out

Oh yes. Will check. Sorry vacation mode is activated :joy::wink:

@VHTV_CEO and @VHTV_James Let me give you some advice. As much as I love kicking the tires, there are people who see the off topic chatter and run away. Hereā€™s what I would do if I were you.

  1. Make it so the off topic topics donā€™t show up in the Latest feed or make it so the user has to seek it out and go into those topics intentionally. You need to separate the naysayers from the normal feed of the apartment topics.

Or

  1. Get rid of the off topic Topics all together and just leave the apartment topics. Perhaps maybe create 1 topic for people to report technical issues, 1 for people to make archive requests, and 1 topic for people to make feature requests. Then all you do is enf___e these topics and any posts that go off topic you simply delete without comment or explanation.

Suggestions on the forum and its structure, you better write to a colleague @VHTV_James. I am happy to communicate on the forum, but I have little to do with its arrangement.

I fully recognize that my comments are disruptive and sharp and I have earned a lot of haters. Iā€™m quite shocked that you havenā€™t banned me. Nonetheless, I donā€™t intent to ruin your forum. I do enjoy seeing others posts and pics. At the very least you should remove the off topic topics from appearing in the latest feed cause thatā€™s what most people see and read first I think.

Hi Amy, I disagree to your points.

You want to read the feed of apartments discussions? You go to itā€™s category and sort however you like:
https://forum.spyhub.tv/c/apartments-discussion/12

You want to read ā€œoff-topicā€ corresponding to itā€™s category, you do the same.

Wanna see all the threads, you go ā€œHomeā€ or to Latest feed: https://forum.spyhub.tv/latest

Thereā€™s no definition of ā€œnormal feedā€ to be applied to apartment topics. All topics are normal, this is a forum about the project, and, fortunately, itā€™s not just apartments to talk about.

Shocker! But, from the looks of this forum so far I donā€™t think it matters really. Bunch of rather random posts it seems to me. No real dedication or flow. I think you have a lot of subscribers who donā€™t see the value of pic posting and there seems to be hiccups of fun. No one here seems to capable of drawing people out and eliciting fun out of others. You got some ex-CC users who seem burned out and jaded with no real interest in driving the storylines. Probably because they know too much. Itā€™s actually kind of hard to be involved when you already pretty much know everything. Maybe itā€™s funner to watch people make fools of themselves.

Iā€™m surprised by all the gay guys here. I didnā€™t expect that. They seem to be the ones with the most interest here.

By normal feed I just meant the focus should be on the apartment topics, not on the topics about the inner workings of the site, forum, and other nonsense. A lot of people are turned off by that and letting those nonsense topic be equal to the apartment topics makes this forum seem unfocused and disjointed.

Oh well, see ya!

Overall you get :star2::star2::star::star::star: so far.
