Let's talk about VIDEO EDITING and videos in general

Are you serious, arguing over two file formats? :open_mouth:

I think you both enrich the forum with your excellent image and video contributions! However, arguing about which is better strikes me as childish.

Just keep doing what you’re doing. Everyone can do it the way they think is best. But please, no arguing about it.

I can already hear the arguments in the back of my mind: my file format is smaller than yours!!! :face_with_tongue:

… and that is the only context in which Jabbath has the biggest.

Yes. Combined with ‘the shortest’

It’s a different philosophy. While I, for example, keep the format as close as possible to the original, he usually upscales it (with AI assistance) to 4k… He likes it better that way, but I’m unsure whether the difference in quality justifies the significant increase in file size…

It is mainly the fact that good quality is being deliberately converted into bad quality.

Yes, that’s your point of view. Julio sees it differently.
So everyone takes their pictures the way they think is right.

Done! :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes. I just express my displeasure about this (beeing forced).

This discussion is rather funny :joy:

The 45Mb file just resaved with shotcut 4000kbps 25 pics/ps - 5MB
Which one is which?

Bigger file to the right? Shows less artifacts where the lights are and color changes… I am sure in motion the differences will be even bigger…

It is only 4000 kbps. So i guess 6000 to 8000 kbps would be enough for ‘good’ quality.

6 to 8 what ?

Post edited.
Color: Saved with ‘complete (JPEG)’. Saved with ‘limited (MPEG)’ it is (98% ?) the same color.

And what is the point of it?

Significant less filesize is enough for ‘good’ quality.

edit 19:25:
i just resaved the 20Mb file from ‘show your love’ poll with 8000 kbps (5Mb) and there is absolutly no difference visible.
And on most monitors (i guess not everybody has 4K monitor) it will be even less possible because it will be scaled down.
When you zoom in to 4000 (player MPC-HC shows that number) there is a difference.

Believe it or not: left is the 5Mb file saved with 8000 kbps.

And i did not use 10-bit mode

And as the orig has color range ITU-R BT.709 and not BT.2020 (as for UHD usual), it is resaved with Limited range (MPEG).

I just want to help finding propper setting!

If you say so. I keep my files the way I like them

I just make suggestions.
As the answers sometimes sound like ‘beeing offended’ I can just state again:

Not offended at all. I just say I will keep them as they are.
