And there won’t be any AI features anytime soon, as it is not a commercial product and made by enthusiasts. And for that, I think, it’s really good. And of course the dated UI is somewhat customizable; my screen usually isn’t as cluttered as you often seen in promo screenshots.
What i miss most as feature/filter is one, that causes the outer edge of a cutout to lose opacity or blend it in the background.
You can do that in Filmora
Use the Filter “Alpha Channel: Adjust”, mode Blur after the mask filter. Some mask filters, like “simple shape” have a softness slider, which is quite useful. I’ve used softened patches of “simple shape” background to blend screen elements that have been recorded at different lighting conditions.
For example in the bathroom wall here. Agnes and the upper half of the image have been recorded with ceiling lights off, the floor with the cat with ceiling lights on. You can tell that there’s something off with the light reflections on the floor.
I tried just one time with Filmora for a ‘moving appearence’ of San in the Halloween slideshow. But then the summer contest has been and after that the premium trial and i had no time to get really good result, as yours in the little Gif. But that is a thing i will improve my skills in next.
aha…i will test it. thanks.
I’ve not used it much yet, but I think the rendered result sometimes looks a bit different from the preview screen, so maybe do a test render.
Filmora has a function you can use to soften edges and blend in better. And you can also do a whole lot with shadows as you can see on my UFO video in the summer contest
Oh but that’s a bit annoying. I always have auto preview render activated but you need quite a powerful computer for this
I will try both. I have Maiya in the kitchen in pipeline for multiple appearence, as in the picture i’ve done once. ![]()
That is the reason, why i got my new machine a few weeks ago, to get the 3 minute video exported in 3 minutes instead of 20 minutes with my 10 years old one.
I wait to get a 9950X3D on Black Friday sale ![]()
It’s just more fun with a thing like that. I chose a core i7 14700 kf.
Every video export causes loud wind noises.
Definitely. Waiting for a process to finish is always annoying ![]()
And causes to much smoking
Fortunately I never smoked. I hope you don’t mean your computer with smoking ![]()

liquid cooling ![]()
Once as I was compiling a video I thought something was catastrophically wrong with my new iMac, it was making terrible noises. It actually was the first time ever the cooling fan had to shift into a higher gear.
I just noticed that with the webp format I can also make parts of the animation transparent, here you have the display mode background color around the circular crop, instead of a black background.
You see the difference? Just some touching-up of the colors I do in many of these animations. Most commonly I add the filters “Levels” and “Saturation”. In Levels I increase the Gamma and then a bit more of “Input Black”, to compensate for the darker tones getting to bright. Gives things a bit more definition, especially in bad lighting conditions. Then I increase color saturation a bit, which often makes for livelier skin tones, redder lips and nipples, more colorful hair. In other cases filters Brightness or Contrast may be called for, but I mostly end up making these three adjustments. +Gamma, +Input Black, +Saturation. The trick is to keep it subtle and not to do too much.
