FP3
I think it’s going to be extremely hot in Spielberg this weekend.
We’ll see how fit the drivers are.
In any case, they should make sure to bring enough fluids to drink with them into the cockpit.
I’m curious to see when the first race will be interrupted or canceled due to excessive heat. Because at some point, it just won’t be humanly bearable anymore.![]()
The drivers are forced to use a cooling vest or take 5 extra kg in the car

What do you think the drivers will decide…?

Russel pole, but took it under yellow, so i think Ferrari lock out first row
Wow, Max’s mistake just secured the front row for the Ferrari drivers. But still, Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull are all performing at the top of their game.
That’s how the cooling vests came about, a couple of years ago. It was so hot in one of the deserts circuits. Can’t remember which one, but a driver threw up in his helmet,
And another has to be helped from his cockpit, by the stewards as he had no strength in his legs post race.
I remember those reports, too.
But I don’t know where it was either. It was very hot. And the track temperatures were very high. Plus, the air was very humid.
I’m starting to think it might have been at Spa, because that track is also very demanding for the drivers.
I thought it was Hamilton, but found this news clip.
9 Oct 2023 · Alpine driver Esteban Ocon has revealed that he threw up inside of his helmet at the Qatar Grand Prix with the Frenchman one of many drivers who struggled with the heat.
And with that the cooling vests were born.
And that was a very good decision.
And I’m in favor of making this cooling vest mandatory for all riders—even if they’re very young and in great shape. At some point, it comes down to health.
That was a bit controversial wasn’t it. Ok. Max’s tyres had, had enough and gave way. Sending him into the barrier. But it certainly didn’t sound like Russell had lifted & coasted by Max’s car. The engine sounded like it was ok full throttle.
Could the engines—at Mercedes—play a role again in these high temperatures…?
All I’m saying is, it’s a long race!
