Just read that on the BBC website, apparently the track was too wet for the inters and that’s what caused him to spin and skid backwards into the barriers.

And Hamilton went out for the 1st time this afternoon in the Ferrari.

Let’s hope Mclaren, do as they stated and run their car today. And I wonder who’ll have the privilege of doing that. Either Norris or Piastri.

Thanks :+1:

I reckon Ferrari, might swap as Charles did the AM yesterday and Lewis the PM, but I’ll find out later on from the BBC website.

I read somewhere It died on track. The only thing is I can’t remember reading if he completed any laps.

So that’ll be a strip down as such, to see what went wrong. I think we just need the Mclarens and Williams to do some mileage.

As we reached the half-way point of day three of this shakedown, George Russell had completed 92 laps in his W17, a figure we have been able to verify. Unofficial timing sources claim 61 laps for Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls), 56 for Franco Colapinto (Alpine), 33 for Lando Norris (McLaren), 21 for Oliver Bearman (Haas), and five for Nico Hulkenberg (Audi).

The Audi was last seen being removed to the garages on a flatbed truck.

In terms of unofficial timing, Russell is reportedly the fastest so far on 1m17.580s but, as is the case throughout this week, lap times mean nothing. Not that this stops people wanting to know what they are… but remember, as William Shatner discovered in The Horror At 37,000 Feet, curiosity killed the Shat.

It remains to be seen whether Audi and Haas will be able to return to the track after the issues encountered this morning, or if their day is already over.

Hopefully HAAS can get back on track this afternoon, but I reckon AUDI’s day is done for today.

F1news from yesterday:

| Ferrari: Leclerc tried the Partial Active Aero Mode for wet weather:

— Ferrari tested the Partial Active Aero Mode, allowing only the front wing to open on straights in wet conditions. Charles Leclerc drove the SF-26 on a wet Montmelò track, gathering data for the 2026 season.

— The Partial Active Aero Mode is a new regulation for 2026, replacing the DRS system. It aims to improve efficiency on straights by reducing drag, while maintaining downforce in curves with both wings closed.

— During testing, Leclerc opened the front wing on the main straight, causing the second and third profiles to collapse, while the rear wing stayed closed as per regulations. This mode helps manage energy use and prevents excessive load on the car.

— The introduction of this mode allows drivers to use active aerodynamics in wet conditions, previously prohibited. It helps avoid excessive energy consumption and prevents the car from being overwhelmed by downforce.

— In heavy rain, the race director can deactivate active aerodynamics for safety, ensuring better grip and reducing aquaplaning risks. This regulation change is crucial for maintaining performance and safety in wet races.

DAY THREE COMES TO AN END

As James Vowles remarked today, Mercedes really is succeeding in running to the timetable it set for itself. Between them, George Russell and Kimi Antonelli completed almost three complete Spanish Grand Prix distances according to unofficial timing – 92 and 91 laps. They set the fastest times, too (1m17.362s and 1m17.580s, also unofficial), though again we cannot stress enough how irrelevant and unrepresentative this is.

Lando Norris completed 62 laps, 29 of which came in the afternoon after an extended lunchtime with the garage doors closed.

Both Alpine drivers were out – Franco Colapinto did 56 laps in the morning, Pierre Gasly (making his first appearance of the week) 51.

Oliver Bearman ran 42 laps after a mechanical issue which brought out the red flags in the morning session.

Arvid Lindblad was the only Racing Bulls driver in action today and completed an impressive 111 laps, making him the busiest driver of the day.

Nico Hulkenberg clocked up 60 laps in an Audi once again seemingly beset by technical issues.

Aston Martin has been racing against the clock to kickstart its testing programme, with the AMR26 expected on track tomorrow.

Looks like we forgot 1 team, as we’ve watching and reading most of the front runners as such.

McLaren completed its first miles today at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with defending world champion Lando Norris behind the wheel.

Aston Martin has arrived, so maybe tomorrow they can take part at the shakedown
