First Nation Calls on Infantino to Resign Immediately 
Lise Klaveness is a former Norwegian soccer player and current soccer official. She has served as president of the Norwegian Football Association since March 2022.
Norway have called on Fifa president Gianni Infantino to resign following his aborted attempt to sell off stakes in the World Cup to private investors, but Mexico and **Argentina have voiced their support for the 56-year-old.

Norway have gone a step further than the football associations of England, Wales, Croatia and Albania, all of whom have withdrawn support for Infantino without explicitly calling for him to resign.
“He [Infantino] does not have the institutional trust required to govern Fifa stably in the times we are in,” Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) president Lise Klaveness said on Friday.
"There is no going back for Gianni Infantino. The international football cooperation is very much in trouble, and we must have a reason to get together now, and we want to ask the Fifa president to resign now.
“We will see which other countries eventually join in, if that becomes the strategy from the Uefa board. We are not going to ask for an extraordinary [Uefa board] meeting, we will ask him to resign in our dialogue with Fifa.”
Klaveness, who is a qualified lawyer, went through a list of concerns that the Norwegian FA has expressed to Fifa during her four-year tenure.
Among them were questions around the awarding of tournaments, the inaugural Fifa peace prize that was awarded to US President Donald Trump in December, and the overturning of a ban for American forward Folarin Balogun during the recent World Cup following a phone call from Trump.
Fifa has been approached for comment.

Lise Klaveness has also been suggested as the new FIFA president. Even Sepp Blatter has officially given her his support. Of course this isn’t going to happen. First of all, she is a woman, and on top of that, she is a lesbian woman married to another woman. In the “Manosphere” that is FIFA, that’s hardly going to work.

Jeg har også lest og fått med meg noe av det at Klaveness har en viss støtte på det å kunne bli president. Sjansen for det og at det inntreffer er dønn lik null av de åpenbare grunner som allerede er nevnt inne under her allerede tidligere.

I think he’s going to be left with no choice but to resign. And there is no doubt other counties will join in calling for his resignation. He doesn’t and FIFA will have no 2030 World Cup. But, I’m sure he will hang on as long as he can to make as much as he can of his 6 million US pay and benefits a year.
I don’t think Infantino will resign of his own accord just yet.
FIFA has, after all, said that the proposal to sell shares in a World Cup tournament is off the table. And that they won’t be pursuing it any further. “What’s more, they’re going to let the dust settle for a while now. And take action against anyone who says otherwise.” At least, that’s how I understood it.
And that’s why I believe that when the next World Cup qualifying draw takes place, we’ll see Infantino back in action.
I’m reminded of Sepp Blatter, his predecessor. How long did it take before he stepped down?
FIFA is a very heavy tanker that, even in rough seas, isn’t easily steered off course.

Xavi played for Barcelona and the Spanish national team back in Spain’s heydays, when they won the Euros twice and the World Cup once. He was an excellent midfielder, who would have been a Ballon d’Or candidate if it hadn’t been for Messi and Ronaldo.

As this is a thread about football (soccer) I have a question about a TV show. I don’t want to take away from real world football (soccer) but it’s nice to have a bit of a diversion now and then. Ted Lasso and curious who might be watching it, Season 4 is underway now. Needless to say I’m enjoying the series.

This is the first time I’ve heard of the series. But I’ll have a look at it, especially as I’ve read that its first season was nominated for 20 Primetime Emmy Awards, becoming the most nominated first-season comedy in Emmy history. 
And if the cast has made it all the way to the White House, the series must be good.

But if I remember correctly, his first coaching job was also in Barcelona. That didn’t go too well, though. Barcelona didn’t play well. And I think he eventually walked out on the job there. Because he didn’t get on with the president. And Hansi Flick came in after him, to Barcelona, and things started to go better for the club again.

Yes of course that’s correct, I had forgotten about that. I had to google it, and even though it didn’t end well, Barcelona won La Liga in the 2022-23 seson. So it can’t have been all bad.
Anyway, what a brilliant player Xavi was back in his prime!
