I hold no grudges—rest assured, I haven’t felt that way in over seven years. Besides, I’m used to your narratives by now, and Argentina wasn’t a disappointment. Como la mayor parte de la sociedad argentina, que vive el futbol de una manera única, estoy triste. Pero no por haber perdido (por cierto, España fue un gran rival y perdimos en buena ley), sino porque se perdió sin poder demostrar el potencial que siempre se tuvo. Y además, porque Messi, una leyenda viva del deporte, no jugará un mundial más.
Por aquí se habla de que quizá juegue un puñado de partidos con la camiseta argentina, pero solo eso.
Genios deportivos como él salen uno cada muchos, y Argentina puede decir que no sólo él ha sido “embajador” de nuestro suelo, sino que además, hemos tenido la suerte de ver jugar a Maradona.
Me atrevo a mencionar que incluso el trabajo de Scaloni fue glorioso: él agarró un equipo destrozado por los egos, por entrenadores que se creyeron más que los hombres que entrenaban. Terminó formando un equipo excelente. En el que todos tiraban para un mismo lado.
Argentina está triste porque ve a su ídolo partir, pero contentos, por saber que se ha puesto, otra vez, el nombre de nuestro país en lo más alto del deporte.
