Editing only makes sense if you want to change or add something to the current post. Itâs always been that way and hasnât changed.
And if I have posted two consecutive posts and want to post a third or fourth, I just have to expand my last post accordingly.
As a rule, this always works and no one overlooks it.
So I donât understand all the fuss about this new rule.
Depends on how long ago the post was made.
As i said If no notification is sent out for edits just a waste of time editing a post IMO.
But you will never please everybody so just as well suck it up and shut up.
We will be having rules for b___dy rules next
And I donât understand what all the fuss is about people making 3 consecutive posts in a topic. I have to say in all the time I have spent on the forum, not once have I been annoyed by consecutive posts. There are far bigger problems with the forum that need fixing than restricting people posting.
Yep well said Stan, it all just seems a bit petty, you either want a forum or you donât, you donât go about restricting what people can post. Where will it all end eh.
Seems like making jobs for the boys
I agree with you 100%.
I donât mind consecutive posts either.
It only gets difficult when you look at the Chatter topic in the morning and a lot of people have replied to me and I want to reply to them, because then I can only reply to two and I would have to mark everyone else in the second posting, quote them and then reply to them . Pretty complicated.
Thatâs why I liked Jabbathâs suggested solution of using the 2-post rule only for housing topics and reactivating the general topics.
They tried to bring in a ban on multipile full size pic posts but i still do it when it suits me.
At least you can see whats going on without having to open them up and scroll through.
Itâs all getting a bit silly now
Too many jobsworths about i think.
This is one of the issues right here, VHTV try to suggest things for better forum usage for the majority without using enf___ement measures, users just seemingly like to constantly push the boundaries and then act surprised when VHTV actually takes action
letâs face it we donât have to agree with anything VHTV does with the forum but itâs their forum, even if they want to nuke it then thatâs their prerogative
I donât think itâs users wanting to necessarily push boundaries just their own way of working sometimes.and feeling comfortable with it. There are ifâs and butâs over many things if you want to be pedantic. I often have got into a conversation where i have probably ramb__d on a bit but isnât that what a forum is for, discussion.
Maybe but then again it may be me being a stubborn bugger
But it is with only being allowed 2 posts.
If you edit a post after people have read it and if edits donât issue notifications, users may not see your edit if they have already read the original.
I would be happy with reverting to 5 limit but to limit it to 2 is being rather overbearing and dictatorial i think.
Well there is a point there. If people do not get notified when a post in a topic gets edited this is pretty much useless as people wonât read back in topic.
I was talking about editing a post in a topic. I donât get any notifications when the post is edited. So there could be something new in the topic and nobody notices
