Consecutive post limit now 2 instead of 5

But I’ve noticed many times on Eros that I’ve seen the post and it still jumped back to the top position because it added another picture.

I never look at the latest list anyway. 90% of threads I’m not interested in. The ones I am interested in I have set to notify me of any new activity.

In this case, you should actually receive a notification for these threads when a post has been changed.
However, this is just a guess on my part. I have no idea if that’s really the case…

No, this is my whole point. There is no notification for edited posts. If they change the forum settings so that a notification is shown then problem solved.

I personally think its a bad idea restricting people from posting because they want to express how they feel on forum the love they have for VHTV regardless if its discussions or pictures.

What’s the point in editing a post that most people have already read and will not re-read on the off chance that it may have been edited?

If the 2 post limit is kept, then at least set the forum that so that it gives a notification for edited posts

In order for a post to have to be edited later because of the 2-post rule, it is necessary that it is still the last post in the topic.
If someone else then posted a post, you can easily post two consecutive posts again.

The edited post can be anywhere in the topic. It doesn’t matter where it is. And, whenever someone makes a new post, you can add two more consecutive posts.

Edited posts don’t change position within the topic, nor are they placed within the list of new, unread posts, i.e. below the red line. That’s the problem. There’s currently no way to know when a post has been edited.

The only thing missing is the note next to it that there is an unread post for those who have already read it.

The system, AFAIK, never puts a note next to any post for any reason, edited or unedited.

I think this is a wonderful idea. Imho it’s one of the best decisions the VHTV management team has made for the forum.

then with the next notification you just have to check whether the previous post was edited.

That edited post could be anywhere in the topic. Who’s going to go back until they just happen to run across it to see if maybe it’s been changed?

Based on your answers regarding my post, I either expressed myself completely incorrectly or you completely misunderstood it.

But I don’t feel like discussing it any further because I’m getting along well with the new rule. Of course it would be better without this rule, but you have to make the best of every situation, which is what I’m doing here.

I’m sorry, but it just doesn’t work that way. If it did there wouldn’t be a problem, except for the two post limit for consecutive posts. Edited posts never move back to the top of the unread/new post list, i.e. after the red line.

Eros has been putting only one picture per post for months, now. He doesn’t add pics to his posts. As VHTV said, that’s why he reduced the consecutive post limit to two. People were making consecutive posts with only one picture.

What are the reasons that people edit posts?

(1) typos, normally corrected shortly after posting
(2) added information, again normally added shortly after posting

In my opinion edits are normally done that quickly that they don’t even appear on the forum as edits because of the “cooldown timer”

I also don’t get the idea that people will want to edit posts after there has been other posts added so if someone would like to explain then that would be great,
I could possibly understand it on a fast moving forum but this is hardly that.

I do this because it doesn’t make any difference to anyone because no one reads backwards, so it won’t even be noticed.

I’ve seen people ask questions and the answer is literally in the post directly above their question.

I never do this because, as I said above and in a previous post, no one will ever see it because no one ever reads backwards. And, there’s no new notification that someone edited a post. If there was, there wouldn’t be a problem.

Exactly because the edit will never be seen because no one reads backwards and there are no notifications that an edit was made.

That is a very good point and one i had thought of before i knew of this topic.
If no notification is sent out for edits just a waste of time editing a post IMO.
