The Al-Nasla Rock in South Arabia
As always, there are some who consider the crack in the rock to be evidence of a millennia-old visit by aliens with laser weapons, while others believe in a natural origin…
Something doesn’t look quite right about that picture.
The so called ‘crack’ looks far too straight edged to have been caused entirely naturally. Also, there is no break in the shadow directly underneath the split part, which surely there should be.
I agree, provided the sun is absolutely vertical above the slit. And that should only be a very brief moment during the day.
Every Easter, Florence hosts a unique spectacle: the Scoppio del Carro, or “Explosion of the Cart.” In the historic center of the city, a huge cart, decorated with fireworks and pulled by white oxen, carries the Holy Fire from the Basilica of Santi Apostoli to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.
The culmination is the launch of the symbol of the Holy Spirit - a rocket in the shape of a dove named Columbine, which sets fire to a pyrotechnic installation on a cart.
This tradition dates back to the Crusades. According to legend, it is associated with the knight Pazzini, who brought flints from the Holy Sepulchre with him - it is from them that the Easter flame is lit. It is believed that if everything goes smoothly, the year will be successful for all of Florence.
That is where Rammstein got the inspiration of the fireworkshow during their concerts

What an amazing photograph, quite beautiful.
And that’s why they call it a buttonhook.
I’ve never heard the term or seen such shoes in practice…
…but the word makes sense
This was a great video. I am the son of a shoemaker ( proper handmade shoes, not the rubbish most people wear nowadays) so this really meant something to me.
