Remarkable. That pilot deserves a medal (or at least a pay rise). I wonder if those onboard applauded him / her when they landed.

If so, hats off to the passengers. I’d probably be shaking so hard I couldn’t even touch my own hands while trying to clap…

Disagree. He was just lucky he did not crash. Flying a non stabilized approach should NEVER be an option. Going around and fly to his planned alternate airport is the right and safe thing to do here.

He is playing with the lifes of his passengers here…

There is something similar in the small town of Kutna Hora, about 50 kilometers east of Prague in the Czech Republic. The chapel, known as the Sedlec Ossuary, is roughly estimated to contain pieces of between 40,000 and 70,000 skeletons, all arranged in artful and decorative ways. I have been there once, around 20 years ago, and it was quite the experience.

The scale is impressive:

China completes construction of the world’s tallest bridge

The main structure is already complete. The steel bridge will serve as a crossing point across the Huajiang Gorge in Guizhou Province.

The bridge is 2,890 meters long and has a design height from the bottom of the gorge to the bridge deck of 625 meters. The structure is expected to be put into operation in June of this year, reducing the time it takes to cross the canyon from more than two hours to about one minute.

The Floating Forest of Australia: A Unique Natural Wonder

In Homebush Bay, Sydney, Australia , lies one of the most stunning and photogenic landscapes in the world : the SS Ayrfield, an old steamship transformed by nature into a “floating forest” .

Built in the United Kingdom in 1911, this ship arrived in Australia in 1912. For decades, it served as a cargo vessel and, during World War II (1939-1945) , it was used to transport supplies for Allied troops in the Pacific . After the war, it continued operating in the coal industry until it was decommissioned in 1972 and moved to Homebush Bay for dismantling.

However, over the years , the structure remained in place, and nature took over . Trees and lush vegetation grew over the ship’s hull , turning it into an awe-inspiring floating forest . Today, this phenomenon is a symbol of nature’s resilience and an unmissable attraction for travelers and photographers .

Alongside the SS Ayrfield, other ships , like the SS Mortlake Bank, were also abandoned in the bay, though they are less known due to their difficult access . These shipwrecks are part of the region’s industrial and maritime heritage , serving as a reminder of its history and transformation over time.

The floating forest is a striking example of how nature can reclaim and breathe new life into abandoned structures , turning them into breathtaking sights that captivate visitors…

Sperm whales are the largest toothed whales and one of the deepest diving species, reaching depths of 10,000 feet. They are known for their large square heads, which can make up a third of their body length, and their powerful echolocation clicks.

Appearance: Sperm whales are dark gray and wrinkled, with small dorsal fins and paddle-like flippers. Males can grow to 52 feet and weigh 45 tons, while females are usually smaller at 35 feet and 15 tons.

Sperm whales sleep vertically to replenish their oxygen supply and stay alert to potential threats. They spend about 7% of their day in this position near the surface of the water. It is also easier for them to wake up when they are already vertical.

Sperm whales get their name from a unique organ in their heads called spermaceti. When seamen first opened a sperm whale’s noggin, they thought the oily substance was, well, semen.
