What's the best song you have heard today?

Let me pay tribute to one of the greatest pioneers of rock 'n roll. Jerry Lee Lewis passed away last friday, 87 years old. He’s one of the people without whom the vast part of this forum topic would not even have been posted. The K__ler was a controversial guy for sure, but that is a story for another day. Now it’s about the music. And there’s plenty to choose from :musical_keyboard:

I’d like to pay a tribute to Dan McCafferty, who passed away today 76 years old. He was the singer in Scottish band Nazareth, who had many hits in the 1970’s. And he is the second original mamber of Nazareth we lost this year, as guitar player Manny Charlton passed away in July. Thank you for the music Dan, may you be remembered.

Heard it 3 times this week…its best live version!

I’d like to pay tribute to guitarist Keith Levene, who passed away Friday this week. Part of the original punk movement in England in the 1970’s, he was a member in an early version of The Clash. However he is best known for his time in Public Image Ltd, alongside John Lydon. Yet another who rarely gets a mention, he’s got one now. Thank you for the music Keith, may you be remembered.

My fave from the band was Broken down angel, great song. :+1:

Oh yes, definitely one of my favourites too. I actually thought about it, but decided on one of the band’s harder rocking tunes. So why not have them both, in memory of Dan McCafferty, one of the grittiest voices in the history of rock.

I remember seeing this one, and it’s a joy to watch. There are sevaral similar videos on YouTube, most of them are great fun to be watching.

I’d like to pay tribute to Wilko Johnson, who passed away Monday this week, 75 years old. He was the original guitarist in the English band Dr. Feelgood. After leaving the band in 1977 he had a long solo career, playing his last gig in October this year. I did see him live two times in the 80’s. Wilko and Dr. Feelgood has been among my favourites since the mid 70’s, so this feels a little sad for me. Here’s Dr. Feelgood, live from 1975. Thank you for the music Wilko, may you be remembered.

absolute classic

Always interesting with alternative takes on classic songs. To quote a comment on YouTube: “You know your good when your rock song turns into Beethoven.”

News just in that Christine McVie passed away earlier today at the age of 79. She first gained attention in the English blues band Chicken Shack in the late 1960’s. However, since1970 she is of course best known as the piano player and one of singers and songwriters in Fleetwood Mac. Thank you for the music Christine, may you be remembered.
