I don’t know how many people have actually looked closely at the lyrics… but I know most people think it’s about the year 1969…
…but there is that one line right at the end: “Me and my baby in 69.” …
So, what is it really about? 
Especially considering Adams was just 10 in 1969 and the song is from '84.

This got me curious, and I just had to look closer into it. It turns out you may on to something. Although the song is about nostalgic feelings about innocence, friendship, love and wanting to be a musician, there’s more to 69 in this song than the summer of that year.

Dolly Parton passed away earler today. She’s an old favourite of mine, so this makes me sad 
Still, she was 80, and she had a long and prosperous career in music. A good singer and a brilliant sonwriter, who wrote several songs which have become staples both in country and in popular music in general.

Dolly Parton was born in a one-room cabin in a small town Pittman Center in rural Tennessee. She was the fourth of twelve children. Hard work and musical talent brought her from this tiny town to Dollywood. She did not forget her roots.
