Damn, you got me sentimental now. I’ve told before in this topic that my best mate lost his short battle with cancer in May last year. This was one of his favourite LP’s. The next song on the LP is…

There’s so many good memories ![]()
What you have with your friend and this song, I have with this…
Part of the text:
Who do you think of? Does he look like me?
Do you tell lies and say that it’s forever?
Do you think twice, or just touch and see?
this remembers me of a close friend who chose this for his funeral
You see, music is timeless and carries emotion.
It’s great that your friend stays with you through music.
Stay strong, and take good thoughts of him with you.

I’d like to pay tribute to the Irish painter and art gallery owner Kenny Morris, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 68. So what is he doing in a music topic then? Well, he was a drummer too, who played on Siouxsie & The Banshees’ first two albums. After he quit the band in late 1979, he’s only been briefly involved in a few low-key music projects, and has focused on art and movies instead.
Siouxsie & The Banshees’ debut album The Scream (1978) may well be the first post-punk and/or goth album ever. Albeit without Kenny Morris, the band then grew into one of the most influential and biggest bands on the alternative rock scene. Still, he was an important part in the beginning of the band’s history, and his drumming style is said to have inspired the drummers in seminal post-punk bands like Joy Division and Bauhaus.
So altough Kenny Morris appearance in the history of rock was brief, all this makes me think he deserves a mention in our topic. So here we go. Thank you for the music Kenny, may you be remembered ![]()
Siouxsie & The Banshees - Hong Kong Garden (1978)
Happy Birthday to the American singer and guitarist Ezekiel Christopher Montañez, aka Chis Montez, who is turning 83 today! He is basically known for one song, namely Let’s Dance (1962). The song has become a standard in rock and pop, and has later been covered by among others Status Quo, Slade and the Ramones.
Let’s Dance peaked at number 4 in the US charts and at number 2 in the UK.Chris Montez had a handful of minor hits in the following years, but then slowly faded away from the music biz. He has later worked for the Mexican-American communities in the US, promoting education and health. He has even gotten an award for this work.
So this is Chris Montez for you. One classic song in rock history and good work for the community. Happy Birthday to him ![]()
I’m kind of having a personal anniversiary here. It was 41 years ago today that I left the Arctics for Oslo, only bringing a few necessities along, like a sleeping bag and some clothes change. Oh, and a plastic with some LP’s in it too ![]()
It was a cold January day. I looked around, and eventually caught up with the friends I had in Oslo back then. Luckily they got a place for me to sleep for the night. Then we went to a concert with Eric Burdon. I felt like I was finally at home

Status Quo - Paper Plene (1972)
Having a serious stroll down memory lane today. The critics say Status Quo is so simple, ayone couls do it. Yet there’s never been another Status Quo to this day!
I don’t know if you ever heard of ‘Neue Deutsche Welle’ (80er). It’s somehow the same style as the Siouxsie & The Banshees song including the moves/dancing in many of the german songs.
