A tribute to Jeff Beck RIP a great guitarist
The Yardbirds - Heart Full of Soul mix (Jimmy Page & Jeff Beck) - YouTube
I’d like to pay tribute to Jeff Beck, who passed away yesterday at the age of 78. He is one of the greatest and most influential guitarists in the history of rock music. Jeff Beck is known for his long solo career, and from bands like The Yardbirds, Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogart & Appice. Here is a clip with Jeff Beck Group, with a young Rod Stewart on vocals and Ron Wood on bass. Thank you for the music Jeff, the legend lives.
Allow me one more tribute today. This time it’s Alan Rankine from the Scottish band The Associates, who passed away early last week 64 years old. They were a new wave/post-punk/pop band, who had a few minor hits in the UK and Ireland in the early 1980’s. The Associates’ singer Billy MacKenzie passed away already in 1997, only 39 years old, so this is sort of a double tribute. Here is one of their most grandiose and melodic pop songs. Thank you for the music Alan and Billy, may you be remembered.
Thank you for your tributes. If you don’t hear reports about musicians who have recently died, this is a nice idea to draw attention to it.
Also, of course, if you remember the days of death of these talents.
In the next 10 years, many of them will probably leave. And unfortunately (at least for my taste in music) there are far fewer new talents than some are leaving.
Thank you, I’m glad to hear you appreciate it. I started doing it in February last year, when Gary Brooker of Procol Harum and Mark Lanegan of Screaming Trees passed away, and have been doing it on and off since then, and I will continue to do it. I especially like to draw attention to lesser known artists, since they rarely get a mention anywhere else.
This is the song as a German you understand “Zahnweh” instead of “Zombie” which means “tooth pain”
Try it and you will never understand something else
Robbie Bachman of Bachman-Turner Overdrive died on January 12, 2023 at the age of 69. Commemorating one of the group’s most iconic songs. RIP Robbie…
