What software and/or tools do you use for VH.tv?

the question is probably more aimed at the hardcore users here, but everyone else can also benefit from it:

what software and/or tools do you use for VH.tv?
e.g. PiP functions only work once per browser, so you have to rely on several. Are there any that you can recommend or that you would specifically advise against?

I had already accumulated a whole armada of browsers because I like to try out different software because of different plugins

  • I can therefore report as working:
    Firefox, Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera
  • as not working:
Waterfox (firefox fork). Here, at least for me, the screenshots cannot be saved using the button at the top right of the image, the reason is currently unknown to me
  • edge and internet explorer are untested

what i’m missing since firefox57 (since the plugin software was fundamentally changed) is the possibility to get 4 tabs on the monitor at once. the existing plugins just don’t satisfy me

  • I use the paid version of NCH Debut for screen recording.

  • Avi Demux has proven itself for cutting here. can not only recalculate, but also save the file after cutting without remuxing the sound and/or image (I’m really not a professional at editing videos, so that’s enough for me  )

  • not to forget: the windows screen magnifier!
    win+plus(numpad) enlarged
    win+minus(number pad) reduced
    win+ESC closes the tool

Unfortunately, the screen section is not particularly large

so now it’s your turn
Especially with screen recording, the list should definitely be much longer
and when it comes to browsers, I’m curious if you know of one that offers special advantages for VH

I use Samasung Galaxy s21 Ultra with smart view function sometimes. I can also enlarge the elements of the picture by sliding them together and sliding them apart my fingers. However, then the image resolution is reduced. I have an old Sony Bravia TV and a blu ray player from the same company.

I’m free viewer.

what I definitely miss on the pc is a zoom-pinch function like on touchscreen devices. Unfortunately, the simple zoom in the browser has no effect on the image. maybe someone has an idea for that?

mobile with S21Ultra and ipad, yes, I use that sometimes too. and I rarely put the picture on the tv or beamer, I have (because of my work) 3 4k monitors in front of my nose, I can usually display enough on them

I am on a MacBook. I use Chrome as the browser, I screen record with QuickTime, with a multi input/output audio created in the MIDI app and I edit the screen recordings in iMovie, so apart from Chrome it’s all standard Apple software.

Not sure if you are aware, but once you have windows screen magnifier open, minimise it to the task bar. Once that is done press ctrl and alt and use the mouse wheel to zoom in or out of whatever part of the screen you point the mouse at, have fun you can really zoom in with that :innocent:

Edit: also I forgot to mention if you then move the mouse cursor to the edges of the picture it acts like a scroll, left, right, up and down. Here is an example, I zoomed into my avatar.

It works with everything that is displayed on the windows desktop, so not just browsers, but like all magnifiers you will loose definition the further you zoom.

Wow wasn’t aware of that one :+1:, and it works on Windows 10  not just 11, which I am really reluctant to install just yet. What is Windows 11 like? Many bugs?

11 is dreadful, wait for 12 … :grimacing:

Thanks for the update, I hadn’t heard about 12. Windows is getting worse than Android FFS only just release one version and another is just around the corner. I swear Microsoft should have just left Windows 3.1 and improved on that or 95 at least you had access to DOS and both were a damned site more stable.

i really must say that i don’t have many problems, but as far as i am concerned, windows 11 is just an update from 10

Ubuntu is an option… works well!
I have it installed on the second partition, just change it in the BIOS that he takes the second first and it runs!

oh, i learned something again. firefox can actually swap out multiple video with PiP, all chrome-based browsers don’t seem to be able to do that. the PiP is always overwritten.

ty for the info

yep chrome, edge and that kind of sh*t only allow one pip

when it gets exiting it is always nice to have the other cams open already… just doubleklick them and you have them fullscreen, klick again and it returs to its normal size

i usually have 2-3 browsers open at the same time. one for clicking around when a thumbnail looks promising and for the forum, the others when i want to stay somewhere permanently.
the advantage for me is that i can spread the browsers over the monitors and distinguish them via the taskbar, but it’s probably more complicated than necessary.

i’m ‘bothered’ by the empty windows in the tabs when the video is swapped out. i lose track too quickly of which tab is actually switched to which camera, and too often i get the wrong one when i want to change something.

it is just what one likes most!

I sometimes stream it to my smart tv, the browser inside sucks, but streaming works great… when you zoon in then you really can see the red drops on the white k__lerfuse

It’s about time for a new chapter in this topic

one of my monitors has a tool that comes with it to easily arrange windows in a grid. Unfortunately, this only works with monitors from this manufacturer (Dell). Since I now have a colorful mixture of monitors from 3 manufacturers, I was looking for an alternative that was independent of the manufacturer. and after i first stumb__d across some paid programs, i found a free alternative in a place i wouldn’t have looked for first: at microsoft

The program is called PowerToys and offers ‘Fancy Zones’ among other functions. a few grids are included, but you can also create your own. this is a bit tricky, because you want to move the grid with the mouse, and if you don’t want every box to have a different size, you have to invest a bit of patience and sensitivity. I’ve been playing around with it a bit over the past few days.

With a bit of sk__l, you can certainly recreate the floor plan of your favorite apartment(s), put a camera in each box, and thus see the whole apartment at the same time, including the movements from one room to the other…

important tip: if you try this, look through ALL the functions in the options. some are pre-activated by default and should be switched off if necessary

so, now without further novel the link to the program and a few example pictures so that you get an idea if it could be interesting for you

the ‘monitoring center’ will probably only work properly with firefox, since you can swap out the window from EVERY tab.

i’m less professional than it looks  i just filled the 4x4-grid full for demo purposes. usually there are only a maximum of 4 pictures in different arrangements in order to cover 2-3 rooms of an apartment. and because every apartment is a little different, i can place it better if i have more boxes
