The Queen is dead, long live the King

My wife and I were traveling home on the M3 from Southampton and as it was announced that she had passed a rainbow came out and appeared to be ending on the M3 miles ahead. Brought a tear to my eyes.

They will eventually change as well…from ā€˜E ll R’ - Elizabeth (the 2nd) Regina (meaning Queen)) to ā€˜C lll R’ - Charles (the 3rd) Rex (meaning King).

i’m a bit annoyed with myself right now because i’m so reluctant to travel and have never been to england. if i had a pound note with the queen, she would have had a place of honor here

If you did, it would be a very old one as one pound notes have not been part of ENGLISH currency (I can’t comment about Scottish currency - which has been different to that used by England specifically - as I can’t remember what that looks like now), for some time.

True, but only when they need to be replaced due to them being beyond repair, i.e. they are leaking, get stolen(yes that happens) or damaged. Farnham in Surrey still has a couple from Queen Victoria 1st and a black GR post box and there are a few older ones dotted around the country too.

Ah yes, I think I have seen some of those very old Victorian ones. If I remember correctly, they are black with gold lettering? Some I think, don’t have gold but are just black.

Agreed, although I would respectfully question the continued use of the devil horns, under the circumstances.

Hey, it’s a porn forum; you get what little is given you and treat it as respect.

I will have a couple hundred as well if you are giving them away.

Only if you make a place of honour for them :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :hugs: :innocent:

Yes of course, they will take pride of place in my local Kantor’s cash register.

Isle of Man 1 Pound gebraucht aus Sammlung Banknote | eBay

Zwar nicht aus GB aber aus dem Commonwealth.

The Isle of Man is not a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, but rather a rock in the Irish sea called a self-governing British Crown Dependency.

We may of served our country and through many conflicts knowing the Queen was fully supportive of all the Military was a great help and for her to serve our country for 70 years was remarkable. RIP Queen Elizabeth !!. God Save the King

Yes, fair comment.

Agreed at least until she is laid to rest next Monday the 19th Sept

Well at the time of writing my response to you, I am not sure that date has been confirmed. I suspect it will be around that kind of time frame though.

Edit: my apologies, yes it HAS been confirmed. I have literally just seen this, several minutes after writing the first part of my comment here.

Don’t think they are legal tender or exchangeable at a bank any more, you could always paper a chimney breast with them to make it a shrine to Elizabeth II and a feature wall at the same time
