Question to the operators of VHTV… Why don’t you offer 3D/360?
2D is boo👻ring to watch and gives me no added value.
My suggestion: at least one 360 camera per location would be awesome, and I would be willing to pay the monthly price for that.
360 cameras aren’t expensive anymore these days.

The idea is not bad. However VHTV uses the same old cameras for more than 7 years by now. So some upgrade of camera quality would be nice for sure. (Especially with low light conditions and fast movements there is a lot of space for improvements)

That’s a great idea. In multi-room apartments, I guess you’ll need several. And what about internet and transmission performance? Considering the recent ISP problems.
The camera quality is sometimes a bit poor. And with camera settings being accidentally moved, blocked, or incorrect LED lights by participants. Or when it comes to suggestions for improvement, I sometimes get the impression that the Vhtv family, as well as the Realm Managers, can be very slow to respond.
And that’s why everything related to the hardware should get even better over time.

The idea is really cool, thank you for sharing it! We are very careful with introducing new types of cameras - past experiments didn’t always go smoothly, so we try not to rush and prefer to focus on urgent improvements. Unfortunately, we have had quite a lot of those lately due to local internet regulations in tenants countries and ongoing work on improving our streaming schemes. So it’s not a first priority at the current moment. But we will definitely keep your suggestion in mind for future updates :pink_heart:

Thank you Kaya for providing the rationale behind the problems that some realms experience.

sorry what is a 360 camera

A 360-degree camera is a camera that captures a complete, circular field of view, providing an immersive view of its entire surroundings. This is often achieved using two or more ultra-wide-angle lenses, the images from which are later stitched together to create a single, seamless panorama. Viewers can then adjust the image composition and freely choose their viewing angle during post-processing.

Yes, I’ve been wondering about that for months. It doesn’t even have to be 360 degrees. 180 degrees is perfectly sufficient. Various adult websites have 180-degree cams, which are fun to watch. But 2D won’t convince me to pay those prices. Like I said, I’m all in for VR/360/180 degrees…

thank you for telling me ,maybe like you said have at least 1 in any of the places

I would skip the rather unnatural looking 360 and go VR.

did you file the suggestions carefully in the members ideas box as per??:winking_face_with_tongue:

I’m in favour of PTZ cameras, as we really need a new topic to argue about here in the forum, namely who should be allowed to control them and who should not :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Well if someone is allowed to control and others don’t then i wouldn’t want them at all it would cause more arguments.

The same thing, if they were all allowed to steer at the same time, that’s what I meant

Here is an example video on YouTube. If you move the mouse pointer (hand symbol) over the video and hold down the left mouse button, you can move the camera respectively the video shown in all directions.

If you watch it directly on YouTube, you can even zoom in and out by using the mouse wheel.

Dear reporter, I’ve been watching VHTV for over eight years now and can tell you that the quality has improved enormously since I started watching. I feel like they’re keeping up with the latest developments. Images are now very sharp, and the colors are also true to life. However, you’re right that it would be nice if VHTV continued to closely monitor camera developments. 360 doesn’t seem desirable in every room, for the sake of participants’ privacy.

Since I don’t know much about this 360° camera technology, I watched the YouTube video. It doesn’t seem like a bad thing.
But I do have a question. The video on YouTube is a stored medium, so this technology works well there. And everyone can freely rotate the view. But does that also work in live broadcasts?
Or would there only be recorded videos from this camera?
For me, the appeal of Vhtv is actually that it’s all about live broadcasting. Personally, I very rarely watch things from the archive.

Yes as the camera always captures 360 degrees of the field of view you could also use it for live streaming.

However the problem is that you could not edit the video in a way it was done in the example video. Usually due to the wide angle lenses you have on these cameras you have big distortions which do not look good at all. You can even still see them a bit in the example video.

Because this 360 are basically only a number of 2D images wrapped around an imaginary globe which still makes it 2D and not real 3D
This is why I prefer VR over this 360 effect.

Here you can see the big distortion I talk about. Outside in the nature this will look okay but inside in a smaller space it will be a big problem
