That is one hell of a gigantic and unfair projection to lay on an entire population. There will always be reasons to laugh. C___dren will make you laugh. Family and friends will do funny or stupid things and make you laugh. A____ls will always make you laugh. And, of course weddings will make you laugh.
I understand what you’re saying. There are many reasons to feel sadness, sorrow, despair, unhappiness and much more, but there will always be reasons to laugh. It’s not fair or right to try and take away peoples’ hope by saying that, as a population, they have nothing to laugh about. People will laugh even through their sorrow and unhappiness.
And, when you think about it, what is it they can really do? It was said just the other day, they live under a communist dictatorship. They speak out or protest, as many are doing, they run a very high risk of going to prison for years or being shot. So, what can they really do, realistically?
