Perhaps but in the event of heart attacks or even worse d__g accidents i think the sk__l needed goes beyond basic first aid, having said that any aid is better then nothing.
Anyway i think we have kicked this ball around enough by now so am going to butt out.
Well you kicked it first
Not sure it would be, over here in the UK at the moment. I say that with immense shame and sadness.
First thing you get asked âIs the patient breathingâ and if you are, youâre totally screwed
You two are a ray of sunshine to be sure
Think it depends on where you live if i was honest and no doubt the same applies in most european countryâs.
Whenever we have had need of the ambulance service here they have always arrived within 15-30 minutes which is pretty dam good i think when you think the majority of that time is in the travelling.
Too many people use the 999 service for stupid b___dy things which is just time wasting for all concerned.
The paramedics we have always had, and many were very young, have always been brilliant and we have been very grateful to them for their proffessionism and excellent attitude, one could not have asked for better.
But like many things too many just a___e the system just because it is free which is often to the detriment of others who really need the help.
We have always had excellent service from the NHS and continuing to do so.
That is quite a long time. They never took longer than 10 minutes hereâŚ
Depends where you live, if you are say 20minutes away from their base you would need rocket power to reach you in 10 minutes so rather a silly statement really.
Itâs supposed to be no more than 8 minutes here (in an emergency) but with all the strikes we have hadâŚfrom ambulance staff (and YES even nurses and certain doctors would you believe - but thatâs another story), weâd be lucky to get a response for a number of hours (yes seriously, hours in SOME cases).
Well we have a lot of bases here so I guess basically everybody is in the sub 10 minute rangeâŚ
Well Iâm sorry to say but I was put in a queue last year with my f____r because he was breathing, luckily I drove him in to the hospital 10 miles away to find out he was having a stroke. Obviously not serious enough
All very well saying that but depends on where they are and how far they have to travel.
Again rather a silly statement with all respect.
Sorry to hear that pal but there will always be areas that donât perform well due to many many reasons.
Perhaps if the service never had so many spurious requests it would lighten the load elsewhere.
My âsilly statementâ had NOTHING to do with location at all. I was referring to recent strike actionâŚwasnât I?
Lucky you then eh but you obviously live in an urban area and not in a rural area.
I live in a very rural area
Had no idea what you were refering to David but yes i quite agree the recent strike action isnât helping anybody.
What can i say you must count yourself very lucky then as i am sure the same doesnât apply all over Germany likewise in the UK.
Did not hear from any problems with ambulances taking too long in Germany at all. Sorry pal.
Donât be sorry, just count yourself very fortunate then you have such a perfect system in Germany.
I looked it up. The average response time here from call to arrival is 9 minutes 47 seconds.
