How to guide for the forum - multiscreen - record etc

Many have sent me a PM asking how to record a video clip etc… and that got me thinking that maybe we could do with a complete ‘How to guide’ for the forum.

I will try to add one tip a day.

How to add a video clip.

How to add Dropdown in Markdown

==================================================================

So the first one we will start with is how to add a video clip.

Basically, there are many ways to do it and each person has their own preference, but this is the easiest one that I have found.

First of all you will need third party software to record the video and I use TinyTake https://tinytake.com/

Once installed press capture and a drop-down box will pop up and then select Capture Video.

Then you need to find the size of the area that you want to capture and you can do this by placing the mouse pointer in the top right-hand corner of the area you wish to capture and pressing the right button on the mouse and holding it down and dragging it to the other corner.

Make sure you select ‘Record System Audio’ if you want to capture sound as well and then just press record.

I recommend that you record no more than two mins of video as otherwise, it will be too big for the site to upload as there is a limit.

For an Andriod mobile, I recommend https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.recordscreenvideo.screenrecorder

Screen Recorder is a stable and powerful video recorder to record your mobile screen with audio

Great advice from JonR here as well and he makes a very valid point which I forgot to add in that a full screen will always increase the size of the file limiting the amount of minutes that you can record so I always record not in full screen and set my recording area to what you can see in the appartment.

If anyone else would like to post their method then by all means kindly post yours.

Speaking for myself, Too many pictures & videos just k__ls the forum, this could be the final nail in the coffin for me once my subscription finishes. Can you imagine when Torey gets a hold of this the discussion will be dead. :disappointed:

This is because the capacity is dictated by resolution size and different recording software have default recording sizes, the default of TinyTake is that it can capture videos up to 30 frames per second, which is about 720p and the most I have gotten out of TinyTake is three mins, but I stay in the 2, 2.5 min video length.

You maybe be able to reset the default in settings and best check it.

He already posts videos and it is a personal preference isn’t it. Wow, grumpy Jock tonight.

it is true with streaming video recorder I use the maximum resolution … the quality is better but the videos take up a lot I will try the program you recommended …

let people post photos and videos as much as they want …

Did I say I was stopping them  do you think I’ve the power to actually stop it? No, I just said I don’t like it, Just my preference that’s all.

then i beg your pardon i don’t know english translate everything via google translator …

The resolution of the player is FullHD so setting higher resolution won’t need to better quality. 720p is still okay and a good way between size and quality.

OK, thanks a lot…

Come to think of it, I get frustrated with these ten or so pictures in one post and one video would capture the same, so if fact there would be less clutter.

good idea!

I would suggest 3 additions, since this guide is primarily aimed at those who have not yet had much experience with it:

  • size: the size of the file also depends heavily on the area that is recorded. who, like me, is equipped with 4k monitors should not record full screen. even maximum sized windows are far too many. so make the browser window smaller and you get more video in less file without degrading the quality too much

  • format : there are different tools for recording, I see bandicam often, I use NCH Debut myself (no free software). different programs also offer different setting options. if you want your video to be played directly in the forum, the .mp4 format is the best choice

  • sound: EVERYTHING your computer is playing during the recording will be recorded. having music or another video running in the background parallel to the recording also ends up in the recording! I have e.g. some recordings already messed up because suddenly a call came in via skype or something similar
Depending on the program, the microphone is also open or can be switched on
    grafik
(many of the tools are primarily intended for creating a tutorial from the recording and explaining what you are doing at the same time). in this case, of course, everything you or someone in the same room says would also be part of the recording!
but the button is not always right in front of your nose like in tinytake. so better make a few videos to test the settings until everything fits as you want it. and check the first recordings before you upload it until you are sure you know what you do, to avoid unwanted bonus material

I use the built in program that windows provides…

Windows key + G

3 minutes of recording 145mb, and acceptable quality

Big thank you to everyone providing tips here :hugs: Finally I was able to upload my first video clip. Although I am pretty decent on my computer, there is still a lot to be learned :joy:

<a href="/realm68" class="current_realm" data-original-title="Black &amp; Peace (+3 GMT) Kitchen"></a>

"a[href*=/realm68]".
Somit kann man sich seine eigene Liste der Realm erstellen, die ausgeblendet werden sollen:

.expand-right > div.appmenu > a[href*=/realm68]
.expand-right > div.appmenu > a[href*=/realm64]
.expand-right > div.appmenu > a[href*=/realm89]
.expand-right > div.appmenu > a[href*=...

It has been working for myself and others for months now so not too sure what you are talking about and maybe it is lost in the translation because you have written in German.
