How high is Norris up the ranks? :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

He is eighth. Not very good for him.

Currently in P8 in the race—
And he has 293 points in the drivers’ standings. Second place.
Max has 230. Piastri has 324.

Another grand slam for Max!

Not the very most exciting race of the year. But happy for the Williams bunch.

Max made some good points up today on both the McLaren drivers. But still a long way to go.

I wonder if Piastri is already feeling sorry for the points he gave up to Norris last race? :joy:

would just be hilarious if he comes one point short for the champioship in Abu Dhabi

Not as spectacular as I expected. It was just a narrow city circuit where there are few opportunities to overtake without wrecking the car.
Congratulations to Max on his commanding victory. It remains to be seen whether he can challenge for the world championship with Red Bull back on form.
Now is the time for McLaren to do their homework. The question of who is the number one driver for the title also remains. Verstappen will not wait for either of the two McLaren drivers.

What I saw from the standings on the BBC sports website, they basically finished where they qualified from apart from crash & bang Piastri.

I’ll get a better look later on during the highlights.

And I think the sooner Baku loses it contract the better.

It’s just a city circuit, similar to Monaco. It’s too narrow for these cars, with 22 participants.
Monaco has tradition on its side. But when Formula 1 started there, the cars were only slightly bigger than go-karts.
That’s different today.
Nevertheless, I like these tracks, I don’t know why.
Because it can also be super spectacular.

True, because even when Senna was driving, they could still overtake at Monaco, namely the tunnel, and the bus stop chicane.

Whereas now with these cars, it’s a case of follow my leader.

I think he’s realised the his run as No.01 is over. But how much damage can he do to the McLarens by winning the remaining races, and at last Tsunoda has done the job he was supppsed to do, and help Max and the team to get as many points as possible.

When Mansell rapidly chased down Senna very quickly in Monaco in 92 he passed out for some minutes after climbing out of the car after the race. :fire:

These races are decided by strategy or pit stops.
The leader then has an easy job. But we’ve also seen that Vettel, in his Ferrari, didn’t make it to the finish line back then. He probably had too secure a position at the time.

At least I saw how Piastri screwed it up for himself, 1st he had the jump start, which caused Alonso the same problem, and then stalled it, which put him at the back of the pack. And then he skidded into the wall, and race over.

Thanks for that correction.

Oscar received a 5-second time penalty for his jump start, and because he didn’t serve it, he would have received a three-place grid penalty for the next race in Singapore.

But for some reason, the FIA apparently didn’t give him that.

I really have no idea why.
