it’s a double edge… i think (hope!) all of us here are able to separate ‘russia’ and ‘russians’ from each other (otherwise we wouldn’t be here anymore). however, ‘our’ russians are not in the public eye like top athletes. and for reasons of personal safety, as lukas already said, i would not expect any athlete to publicly oppose the system (even if i would like it to happen in large numbers).
So yes, I understand the idea of the IOC, I also think it makes sense in theory, but it cannot be implemented in practice, and for that reason it should not be implemented
Russian or Belarussian athletes will never be neutral no matter what flag they use. Propaganda will alway use them even if the athletes themselves do not want it.
Therefore they should be not allowed to participate.
If they do I hope all Western Countries will boycott the games.
The problem with that is Putin would see that as a victory for him,a whole olympic games ruined and can you imagine the propoganda he would glean from that,but i admit there are no easy answers.
Frankly speaking I don’t see the Olympics as very important. The president of the IOC Bach is a moron and friend of Putin and the whole thing similar to FIFA and UEFA is highly corrupt.
A boycott will show the whole system how rotten and corrupt it is.

April 2 (Reuters) - Well-known Russian military blogger Vladlen Tatarsky was k__led by a bomb blast in a St Petersburg cafe on Sunday in what appeared to be the second assassination on Russian soil of a figure closely associated with the war in Ukraine.
Russia’s state Investigative Committee said it had opened a m____r investigation. St Petersburg’s governor said that 25 people were wounded and 19 of them were being treated in hospital.
It was not immediately known who was behind the k__ling. The head of Russia’s Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said on Sunday he would “not blame the Kyiv regime” for it.

Clearly there is a lot of deluded people. The sheep in the field know better because they don’t get sucked in by continuous propaganda. Not all Russians but there is definitely a level of hatred deeply embedded for Europe and America in a lot of these people.
Why people leave Russia and don’t come here?
Russia tried to blame Ukraine for this when it seems to have been one of their own against the war. This shows how unrest is beginning to build in Russia.
