Have you been in the army. The whole of your army training is obeying commands without questions. It is easy for a civilian to be a keyboard warrior and criticise what soldiers do on the battleground. You have no idea the emotions soldiers go through yet at the same times have to obey with hesitation. The firing on that apartment could easily have been justified with saying Ukrainian soldiers were in there. Unfortunately in any wars civilians are always the worst hit. Of course what happens is appalling but then war is evil.
Even in army you should never lose your sense of thinking for yourselves. So no this is no excuse for me. These soldiers are guilty of war crimes and should face the consequences for it.
You obviously have never been in the army. You obviously never had army training. The army is not a democracy. You obey commands. Yes if it is a obvious war crime you have the right to refuse. You are told that there are enemy combatants firing from that apartment and to take out that target. The tank crew does not sit down and have a meeting to discuss the possibility of civilians being in there and therefore we should reconsider the order. You obey the command no matter how much you disagree with it.
Thereâs 4 British soldiers went AWOL and they fear that theyâre on their way to fight with the Ukrainians. The government are pleading for them to return as Itâs illegal to interfere in a conflict that weâre not directly involved in. Not everybody is happy obeying orders.
Of course I can refuse such cruel commands. When everyone did that nothing would happen. All these people are guilty. Itâs no excuse carrying out orders without thinking.
I know people who were in the army here (Germany) And they all got told they have the right to refuse orders when they are against the Geneva convention or v_____e human rights.
Well I hope they will kick some Russian soldier asses
Great speech from a person who has never been in a combat situation. You have the right to refuse a clear war crime order. Shooting at an apartment may seem to you to be a war crime but if there were enemy soldiers in the apartment then they have the right to shoot at it, it is therefore a legal order and you will be court martialed for not obeying that order. Speak to soldiers that have been in a war.
There has been multiple comments on the realms that are affected, and comments concerning how bad this war is. This is the opportunity to share and vent
Well letâs agree to disagree. Following orders is no excuse for war crimes.
Every independent court will agree with me.
The defence minister says they could end up dragging the UK into the war and thatâs not what NATO wants.
Such an ignorant comment from someone who thinks that their opinion is fact. Look at war and see how civilians targets are always destroyed. Do you really believe that every civilian target destroyed constitute a war crime. If an enemy combatant is suspected of hiding there and a threat to you, you simply send your men forward hopefully that none get k__led, or do you destroy the target. Please donât give me your civilian keyboard version of what command a soldier has to obey. Sad but that is the reality of war.
I am in no way saying that no war crimes are being committed in Ukraine by Russians. But let us not get emotional and blame every act by Russian soldiers a war crime. The war itself is a crime against humanity and Putin and the Russian leadership will have to answer for it. The soldiers are simply obeying commands. They have been lied to, the whole of Russia has been lied to by the propaganda machine. They genuinely believe they are fighting for a just cause.
I blame every Russian soldier. Especially the ones who are not conscripts. They are all guilty for this war.
Dans la guerre en Bosnie, seuls des chefs ont été reconnu coupable de crime de guerre , pas les simples soldats.
Wrong decision in my opinion.
It is currently very difficult for me to assess everything so clearly. If I imagine an uneducated Russian who got all his information from Putinâs propaganda contaminated TV, it is hard for me to label him as guilty.
At the same time, however, I am realizing more and more that not all Russians can be so stupid. I fear that there are more russians than we think, who want to believe putins bulls__t. At least I find it more and more difficult to watch VHTV and not wonder why they all have such a happy time while their country is k__ling so many innocent people. I mean, theyâre partying practically every day, while just a few hours away their military is k__ling people en masse. Theyâre not all just fools, many of them certainly know whatâs going on.
A truly terrible time. Itâs just all so incredibly sad.
Soldiers take orders. If the superior gives an order, the soldier has to obey it. Especially in war. If he doesnât, he can be court-martialled. In this respect it is right that the leaders are condemned and not the simple soldiers.
I know we can all jump to conclusions but i just have to agree with the highlighted part of your view⊠Certainly they are not all fools but it just makes me wonder as to some of their mentalityâs when all many seem to watch on TV is b___dy cartoons.
