Discussion about Russian invasion of Ukraine

At least every country in western Europe and the USA will be involved when s__t gets hotter.

They should rather go to Africa or so. I guess in central Africa nobody has any interests and therefore will be no attacks :upside_down_face:

Yes Norway does supply us as do the middle east but much of our gas and oil is from our own fields which are about to be increased to avoid reliance on others but it is a problem for the whole world i am afraid.
All this green crap is all very well but will never be enough until technology get more advanced, meanwhile it is just adding to the overall cost in taxes.
Lets hope the wind keeps blowing and the sun shining eh

So at the ex-pat forum they are even more daft then here with the perverts. Who knew?

I spoke to my wife and we are going to stay here come what may as we have lived here for so long and just do not feel good anywhere else.

I will also stay. I won’t run away.

Well when becoming independent we should also come independent from Middle East. Saudi Arabia slaughtering people in Yemen is a crime against humanity too…

You would not believe the silliness and stuff that goes on complaining about life here comparing it to the UK, saying: “oh, it wasn’t like that in the UK, stupid Poles.” Which really pisses me off and I wonder what the hell are they doing here in the first place, so I kind of go out of my way to avoid them and immerse myself into Polish society.

Within Europe I usually do not think about different countries. We should all support each other. And yes I count UK too. They are no longer in EU but we should not forget about the people there. They are Europeans too.

War is only natural. What is sad is that innocent people always get displaced. Homes ruined. Lives put on hold.

100%, the trouble is they forget that sometimes.

We love Europe and all it’s peoples just don’t like the EU and the way it is heading, sorry.

I love my football team. :+1:

Life is hard and the world is not always a fair place. Russia is the one that invade Ukraine. The reasons given by the Russian leadership and propaganda are clearly lies; I think that the vast majority of viewers would believe that. The Russians on the other hand through no fault of their own believe the propaganda, and for all that scream there are ways of getting other news, remember the older people are the majority that believe it, some do not even have internet. We even had a Russian apartment closed due to their fierce believe in the propaganda. Most of the tenants are silent so we have no ways of knowing their real believes.

The younger people have internet and see the other news so do not believe the propaganda they are being fed. They are also used to having goods that they did not have when it was the USSR. Those goods will no longer be available, and Putin is going to have a hard time explaining that. Even if the goods are available, they will be unaffordable as sooner than later the Rouble is going to be worth less than toilet paper, the reason it is not there yet is the central bank is propping it up but that cannot last indefinitely.

If this war carries on Russia is going to become a pariah state, much like North Korea. It is already hated by the vast majority of the world. There are still a lot more sanctions that can be applied. It will take a bit of time but the counties so reliant on Russian gas and oil will find alternative sources. Nobody knew or let’s say hoped that a war would happen. The warning signs were always there but ignored. Remember how prior to WW2 the signs were ignored.

If Russia becomes a pariah state like North Korea, then those Russian apartments will be shut down. The state will ensure that as they will tighten up every way for the real news getting through. For those that say VPN and other ways are the way to get around that obviously have never had the security police knock on your door and threaten you with imprisonment.

If the Russian apartments were shut down, it would be a hardship for the tenants, but as stated war is hell and has consequences. McDonald shutting down but still paying the employees, all fine and good but for how long will they do that, when their Russian profits are wiped out that will stop. As the war drags on for months if not years you can be sure that they will stop. VHTV is small but nevertheless is a company that is now supplying foreign income to the Russian economy. Is it fair, of course not especially to VHTV viewers. VHTV would shut down if those apartments were closed.

What about those Ukraine apartments that have shut down, yes, a lot of sympathy and even donations are being made. The reality is those tenants have had to flee with whatever they were able to carry, some have had to leave their a____ls behind. Those tenants had no wish for the war, they are simply casualties in the war. They have lost all their income. Yet the Russian apartments are still doing fine and carry on as if nothing has happened. So, from some viewers we have sympathy for the Ukraine apartments but shock, anger and disgust if the Russian apartment were closed. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Hi Stuart, I don’t think it is right to hate Russians as they are as much victims as anyone else in this horrid situation and as you rightly say they know nothing of the truth.

But he is right. Many people won’t make a difference between the Russian army, government and people. I don’t like that too.

Do you know that there are still some old people that still do not like Germans, they have never forgiven them for the war. That is simply unjust but sadly a result of people who have gone through war.

Quite agree, the majority of Russians are just family loving people as you and i are on here it’s just that most of them are oblivious to what is really going on due to the regime they are under.
Having said that it ws reported earlier that telvisision company’s are begining to shpw what is really going on with this war which hopefully will be the begining of the end but don’t hold your breath eh

Yep afraid so but having said that their attitude within the EU isn’t helping them now either but am not gonna get into a EU debate.
