…that 99% of all species that have ever existed are now gone?
Yep, over 99% of these species are now extinct.

…that 250 years ago today there was a certain “tea party” in Boston, which later has been given the name the Boston Tea Party No taxation without representation!
I have certainly heard about the Boston Tea Party many times, but I did not know that it is 250 years old. That is new to me.
I remember going to see The Sensational Ales Harvey Band who gave a great performance of this song
Wow, I just remember taping the song from the radio when it was released. I had the cassette for years, but it wore out eventually
I actually still have a lot of cassettes saved in different places and stuff, but sadly there are less and less fitting tools to use it with at least in my case then. It may sound a little strange.
I have a few left too. If they still play, I have no idea. I haven’t owned a cassette player for…quite a few years. Still some good songs there, so it’s hard to throw them away. Pehaps I’ll get a chance to hear them some day
You know, it`s hard to throw them away because despite myself being relatively young, I have grown up before all this digitally induced stuff. That is why I still have a lot of socalled old school things if you call it that. I am also grown up before all this digitally induced age. That is why it is as it is.
Hey, guys, don’t throw them away, convert them to digital on your computer or put them on an external drive, etc. Here’s a link to get you started.
…that according to Luminate, an entertainment industry data collector, U.S. tape sales increased by more than 440 percent between 2015 and 2022.
I’ve been thinking about having the cassettes converted to digital. Luckily I have two very good friends, both more sk__led than me in this matter, who have been doing this. I’ll probably turn to them when/if I decide to go ahead and get it done.
Thanks for the link anyway. I didn’t even know such a gadget existed.
That’s a very expensive process, $30-$40 per tape. I hope these are REALLY good friends and are willing to give you a good deal.
That’s pretty amazing. You’d think they would have long since fallen out of favor, considering the digital age we live in. Interesting.
The sale figure to start with was pretty low, so the increase isn’t that impressive. It’s like when a Third World country has the highest annual growth in GDP one year, which has happened. The country is still dirt-poor.
These guys do this in a more old-fashioned manner, by hooking their record or cassette player to the computer, then using some software to record it. All it costs them is time. And time we have, because they are REALLY good friends. We go back at least 40-45 years
WOW!! Those are some REALLY GOOD friends!!
… that if you have an ant problem, get some chalk! Ants will not cross chalk lines. Crossing chalk lines will throw off their sense of smell and they will not be able to pick up scent trails of other ants.
… that a____ls laugh when being tickled? All of the great apes – orangutans, gorillas, chimpanzees and bonobos – respond to being tickled with a remarkably human-like laugh. Dogs, meerkats, penguins and many others also seem to enjoy it.
…124 years ago James Bond was born. The American ornithologist’s name was at some point appropriated by writer Ian Fleming, who used it as the name of the hero in his novels. Allegedly mr. Bond himself had no hard feelings. On the contrary, he rather enjoyed the extra attention it gave him. He passed away in 1989.
…that when in a group, pandas are collectively called an “embarrassment.”
… that during Hurricane Andrew, 1992: the Miami Zoo put 30 flamingos in a bathroom to save them from the storm.
And a group of crows is called a “m____r”.
