Well said my man, we have a lot to be thankful for, for all those brave and dutiful men, women and boys.
Now so many country’s leaders now seem to want to fuck it all up again, just hope i never see it but i surely feel for the young generation i must say.
Well seems I am less traditional. I mostly look forward and not much back. The ones I want to remember I can do without any symbols or any other things
It’s good to look back and appreciate what we have to be thankful for.
The way things are now the future is in rather a precarious state i would suggest.
Then again each to their own i suppose as circumstances do vary from country to country.
Religion, the nemisis of the world pal. Disturbing really.
The source of all wars and conflicts.
Sad really as religion should want to do the opposite.
It’s the ones we look back to and remember what they gave up, to give us the ability to look forward. That’s the reason we look back and honor them.
It’s not just the ones who you want to remember who gave their lives that we could all remember.
It makes me so sad to read the words coming from your mind, and I was never even in the armed services.
almost right. Greed is also partly responsible…
Come on take a deep breath and calm down. Taking this way too far by now
Was nothing against you at all.
Did you know… (for non-Germans, the following article is even appropriate under this topic):
This ‘historical guilt, or debt’ is something that we Germans will probably never be able to get rid of. This has become embedded in everyday life in our country.
When I see Americans standing up and loudly proclaiming their pride in their country…then that’s normal for America. If you hear a German saying the same thing about Germany…it’s >95% a neo-Nazi . ‘Our’ national pride has to be silent, but definitely not public, and if so, then not in the country as a whole. of German football… ok, we could be proud of that for once. It’s difficult at the moment on German cars, on individual German values… but not on the country. I have no idea whether that will change at some point. I currently see no chance of this in the near future.
Ultimately, it is also the fault of this ‘guilt’ that there are so many discussions here about aid to Ukraine, arms deliveries, and other things. Because the premise still applies here that no one wants Germany to participate openly (or too supportively) in a war, even on the side of the defenders.
Elections are coming up here soon, and no one wants to position themselves in such a way that they will be targeted by their political opponents. If necessary, the opposition will vote against its own interests, as long as it harms the competitor more than itself.
But that is clearly the order of the day in America at the moment too. Maybe there will be fewer lies produced here… at least I hope so
reading how you german guys feel as opened my eyes , i was unfortunate to loose 4 uncles that i never got to meet in the war with germany , but i will tell you this straight from my heart , i dont blame the german people in any sense or form .and never have , i will admit iin my early years i had hatred for your fellow countrymen ,but i grew up and was soon able to realise where my hatred should be directed and that was to in the case of WW2,was one man who was sick and twisted and corrupted a whole nation, and sad to say it was just human history repeating itself , and will do again over and over untill mankind extinguishes its own existance and that could very well happen in the not distant future ,
back to more informative things:
…that a ‘bug’ used to be exactly that: a bug.
sometimes a bee, a fly, a worm… in short: an insect, that was hiding in mechanical computing machines between the contacts and led to incorrect switching
also a bug can be a secret listening device
…that this was the very first photo that was transferred from one phone to another:
Since phones back then, 1997, didn’t have a camera, this is a digital photo that was transmitted via computer. The sending phone itself was basically just the modem, but it was displayed as a photo on the receivers screens.
You mean like our pal Jabs eh
Seems this discussion is over, but since this post reminded me of parts of my family history, allow me one more comment. In late autumn 1944 German f___es burned down my grandparents home, which also was my m____r’s c___dhood home, where she was born. They were then deported.
I was born about a decade and a half after that, and as far back as I can remember I heard a lot of stories about this and from the rest of the war. But one thing I never ever heard was my grandparents or my m____r say anything bad about the German people in general.
You can’t blame the german people i agree, they are probably as disgusted with the history as the rest of us.
Some years ago we had a german couple living next to us for a few years and they were lovely.
Her name was Astrid, lovely girl.
Then again most people are it’s just their many different shades of government.
the discussion on this topic can never be over , the more people talk about it and learn from it , could well have positive results for future generations and maybe they will learn that the very people they vote for are the very people that are distroying there future existance, i stopped voting back in 1980 and refused to accept all voting demands ever since i have recieved quite a few fines for my acts to , but the fines where worth it , i paid them with there own money
Funny that you only remember her name, or Astrid was the name of the couple ?
Got selective eyes pal or is it brain
DID YOU KNOW !
this is a building in Mannheim in Germany. The walls are actually straight and the 3D shapes are an illusion thanks to an unusual paint job.
