Not sure for how many years but this still is an issue in most if not all apartments where the cameras fall down. Some apartments are better than others but it’s really annoying how in this day and age this issue has not been addressed. Can something be done about it if they are going to be on the wall with sticky tape.
Simple answer NO
Actually, man invented screws and dowels for this…
If they’re in rented accommodation I’m not sure if they would have permission to bore holes everywhere
I posted countless of options how to securely mount things even without screws and dowels but it apparently fell on deaf ears each time I did it…
But the screws and dowels also seem to have fallen on deaf ears…
For sure would be no problem here in Germany. You just have to fill the holes again when you move out which is super easy by the way
Shanas second bathroom cam is mounted that way…
You should actually be allowed to drill holes in the walls of rented apartments. You just have to close them again when you move out. At least that’s how it’s done in Germany.
ok, but why isn’t this done in all apartments with all cameras?
Not allowed here in Scotland, well my uncles apartments anyway
Most likely not allowed but as I said there are other easy ways to securely mount a cam without the chance of slipping. Google Tesa Power Strips for example
Yes Scotland…
How much can landlord charge for holes in wall UK?
A small amount of nail holes in a wall is classed as normal wear and tear so a landlord would not be able to charge you for them. However, excessive amounts of nail holes in a wall are not classed as normal wear and tear and you can be charged the cost to repair the wall to its previous standard.
But you can just invest half an hour and repair it yourself I guess?
or Scott’s hot glue gun…
Hot glue is not made for this actually. It is very brittle when dry and the slightest bump on the cam can cause it to break and the cam falls down.
Here in Germany you put some plaster in the holes when you move out and everything is fine…
Knowing landlords they’d say it has weakened the wall
I never realised Germany was into “cheap & nasty”
