Why is the Middle East (West Asia) is left out of Asia?

Last I knew Britain is still part of Europe…
Not with the so called english chanel 
So Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland don’t count? Britain is out of the EU but still attached to the continental shelf. I know there are probably French guys trying to work out ways to use the Channel tunnel boring machines to sever us from the continent, but we are still physically attached.
