Happy Birthday to Charlie Harper, who is turning 80 today! He has been the singer in the English punk band UK Subs from 1976 until today! Yes today, to celebrate Charlie’s 80th birthday, UK Subs are actually playing live today at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London. Later this summer they are scheduled for more gigs in the UK, Germany and Italy.
UK Subs has never gotten to be a big name. There were a few minor hits in the late 1970’s and early 80’s, but apart from that, the thing that’s kept them going all this time is love of music and relentless touring. So this is a man who’s paid his dues. And who’s still are paying them. Happy Birthday, and hats off to Harper!

A song most fitting for the day today. It’s Tuesday and it’s raining cats and dogs, accompanied by thunder and lightning, just like yesterday 
And while we’re at it, 114 years ago today Aaron Thibeaux Walker, best known as T-Bone Walker, was born. He was one of the earliest electric guitarists in blues, and players such as as Chuck Berry, B.B. King and Steve Miller have cited him as an inspiration.
Let us celebrate T-Bone Wlker’s memory with his best known song, a song which has become a blues standard, covered and recorded by numerous artists.
