Love Affair. Bringing On Back The Good Times.
Bobby Vee - The Night Has A Thousand Eyes (1962)
Before videos there was Scopitone, a brand new video jukebox for bars. Quite adventurous for 1962!
Bobby Vee - The Night Has A Thousand Eyes (1962)
@Lukas156546 mentioning of the Cure with the lullaby reminded me of an old Jethro Tull title I hadn’t heard for a while
Jethro Tull - No Lullaby (2003 Remaster)
Hues Corporation - Rock The Boat
The band comes from Santa Monica California, but the music sounds like Philli-sound to me.
Let us celebrate the memory English musician John Miles, who would have turned 75 today if he hadn’t passed away in 2021. He’s not one I’ve really folllowed through the years, but a friend used to play his first album a lot when we were hanging out in the mid 1970’s. One of John Miles’ songs got stuck with me, and has been there since. The song is Music.
“Music” is also John’s best known song, becoming a hit in several countries. In the UK it peaked at mumber 3 in the charts and in Switzerland it even got to number 1. It is a good song, which has stayed with me for almost half a decade now.
John Miles - Music (1976)
To live without my music
Would be impossible to do
In this world of troubles
My music pulls me through
Roy Orbison - Oh Pretty Woman
88 years ago today Roy Orbison was born. He is one of the greats! Unfortunately he passed away in 1988, just as his career had been revived with The Travelling Wilburys. Now let’s celebrate his memory with one of his finest and best known songs.
T. Rex - Ride A White Swan
The reason for posting this is that it is the first record produced Tony Visconti which became a big hit, peaking at number 2 in the UK charts in January 1971. And today it’s this famed record producer’s birthday, he is turning 80. So Happy Birthday to Tony Visconti!
This is a man with an impressive CV. He is arguably best known for his work with David Bowie (14 albums) and Tyrannosaus Rex/T. Rex (11 albums), but in addition to that he has produced/co-produced albums by Iggy Pop, Thin Lizzy, Boomtown Rats, Sparks, The Moody Blues, Strawbs, Rick Wakeman, The Stranglers and…the list goes on and on!
Pete Townshend - Give B___d (featuring David Gilmour)
Peter Dennis Blandford Townshend, head of the group “The Who” in his solo career, featuring David Gilmour, head of Pink Floyd, after departure of Roger Waters.
Two masters in music in my opinion
The Who - Pinball Wizard (Live at the Isle of Wight, 1970)
song written by Pete Townshend for the rock-opera Tommy, published in an album same name “Tommy”.
The song pinball wizzard was also performed successfully by Elton John.
Besides “Baba O’Riley” or “Won’t get fooled again”, one of my fabourites from The Who is the title-song of their last album in original set.
Keith Moon, their drummer died shortly after publishing this album in 1978.
The Who - Who Are You (Promo Video)
The Moody Blues - Melancholy Man
I’d like to pay tribute to English musician Mike Pinder, who passed away yesterday at the age of 82. He was the keyboard player and one of the singers and songwriters in The Moody Blues. Now the last surviving member of the original version of the band is gone.
Mike Pinder’s best known song is probably Melancholy Man. It was realeased as a single in several European countries (not in the UK and US) and actually got to number 1 in the French charts. So here it is, in Mike Pinder’s memory. Thank you for the music, may you be remembered.
