Weekend is here, time to really relax. Cheers. prosit, salute, skål
By the way, I was surprised to find that this actually is a German band, not an Irish one. Catchy good-time music it is anyway.
I’d like to pay tribute to English musician John Gosling, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 75. He played keyboards in The Kinks from 1970 to 1978. His first album with the band was Lola vs. Powerman and the Money-Go-Round, so he made a strong debut with the band. The Kinks are often mostly about the Davies brothers, but let’s not forget the fine musicians who were a pivotal part of the band’s memorable music. In tribute to John Gosling’s memory, here he is playing piano on one of The Kinks best known songs Lola. Thank you for the music John, may you be remembered.
Let us celebrate the memory of American singer and songwriter Willy DeVille, who passed away 14 years ago today at the age of 58. He was the singer in Mink DeVille, who had some sucess from the latter part of the 1970’s and well into the 80’s. After the band split, Willy DeVillle continued recording and touring under his own name I did see Mink DeVille live once, some time around 1985. Great memory, they played for almost two and a half hour. To celebrate Willy DeVille’s memory, here is Spanish Stroll, probably his and Mink deVille’s best known song.
Great song.
Robbie Roberston, former guitarist of the Band died today at 80 years old
Robbie Robertson - Somewhere Down The Crazy River
and let’s not forget this one from the Band
The Band - The Last Waltz - The Weight feat. the staples singers
Let us celebrate the memory of Veronica Yvette Greenfield, better known as Ronnie Spector, who would have turned 80 today if she hadn’t passed away in January last year. She was the lead singer in 1960’s girl group The Ronettes, who had several big hits back in the day. After they broke up, she had some success as a solo artist, with solo albums and guest appearances on records by other artists. To celebrate the memory of Ronnie Spector, here is The Ronettes with Be My Baby.
