Sorry, but McCartney/Lennon were brilliant musicians both together and solo. McCartney still is. 
and they helped the rolling stones to become who they are
Yeah but still I think the band is overrated. They could only be so succesful back in the days as there was simply no competition around. Nowadays it would be no longer possible to be so succesful as there are simply to many artists and bands.

i do like the stones better also, but i don’t agree that the Beatles are overrated…
the stones just live healthier, there is only one missing (edit) 2 missing… Brian Jones i nearly forgot,

Today’s music style has changed from back then. In this respect, it is difficult to compare and you are certainly right. Basically, the Beatles broke up at the right moment and made history as a result.
Paul McCartney is still popular with his genius today, although he is now in his 80s. But his achievements alone with the Wings was remarkable. And John Lennon was more of the crazy type, but no less brilliant.
Things didn’t go so well for George and Ringo, but they too were able to produce some hits thanks to their fame through the Beatles.
The Stones have always been your number two as long as the Beatles have been active. They only had their real success after the Beatles split up. And today they are a cult.
