Personally, I like the Jeff Healey Band’s version a little better.
Maybe because I saw a concert with them in the early 90’s, because I really liked the music from the film.

Actually i pretty good version, but I just have to post the original by Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood. Nancy & Lee had some great songs. For anyone not familiar, check out some more.
Since this started with a post including Uschi Obermaier, I’d like to give a mention to Peter Green and Danny Kirwan too.
I hesitated between this one and “the end”
Because the Quo version of roadhouse blues is also very good
One more can hardly matter when we’re having a party
I actually like the version better than Ville Valo & Natalia Avalon, but it was the theme song of the movie…
Yes I get it, that’s how it is. Those first impressions make their mark. I was going to make a remark about Roadhouse Blues too, Jeff Healy was a unique artist and guitar player, but I heard Morrison Hotel back in 1978. Nothing can beat that for me. It’s that first impression. That’s the magic of music
Have you ever seen him live? I saw him here in Hamburg. He performed in St. Pauli in the “Große Freiheit 36”. It was quite a small place and there were about 200 people at the concert. You practically sat right next to the stage and it was a great atmosphere. Indescribable. Better than those mega concerts in big arenas.
The fascinating thing was that he was blind and sat on a chair with the guitar on his thighs the whole time. It’s a shame he died so early. Next month it will be 15 years…
Never saw Jeff Healy live, I envy you that experience. He was one of a kind, there will most probaly not be another guitar player like that ever again. I got a couple of his LP’s in the early 1990’s, that’s all I know about him.
I’d like to pay tribute to American musician and songwriter Burt Bacharach, who passed away yesterday at the age of 94. He wrote tons of songs, often with lyricist Hal David, recorded by among others Dionne Warwick, Tom Jones, Gene Pitney, Aretha Franklin and English new wave band The Stranglers. In Burt’s memory, here is the song The Look of Love, sung by Dusty Springfield, one of the greatest female voices ever. Thank you for the music Burt.
For anyone familiar with The Ramones, here is a Spanish tribute band calling themselves The Gramones. When thy start playing, it sounds like just another competent Ramones tribute band, but then when the vocalist starts singing…wow
I heard this today and it reminded me of posts that happen on here sometimes about the female participants/guests
Happy Brithday to Peter Gabriel, who is turning 73 today. Here is the song Down the Dolce Vita, one of my favourites from early in his solo career, not long after he left Genesis.
Still time left for one more Happy Birthday. English bass player Peter Hook is turning 67 today. He is known for his distinct and great bass lines with the bands Joy Division and New Order. My favourite of those is still She’s Lost Control from Joy Division’s 1st LP.
American singer and songwriter Tim Buckley would have turned 76 today. Sadly he passed away in 1975, only 28 years old. I’d like to draw attention to this very diverse and talented musician. To celebrate his memory, here is the song Phantasmagoria In Two from the 1967 album Goodbye and Hello.
