Jimmy Vivino Band, with Rev. Payton, Breezy and Joe Bonamassa - Shake Your Hips (2026)

Rev. Payton is getting good on the guitar because he knows to combine his guitar practicing with more everyday stuff :guitar:

Whether it’s chores…

…or preparing for hunting season.

Let’s not forget to say Happy Birthday to Slade’s guitarist Dave Hill. He’s turning 80 today! :beer_mug:

Slade - The Whole World Goin’ Crazee (1972)

Dave Hill is still at it, with what is now called Dave Hill’s Slade. There’s a few dates scheduled for the coming months in the Czech Republic, Germany and the UK. I found this clip from last year. As usual with these amateur recordings, the quality is not the best. Still, the sound is decent enough, so here we go.

Dave Hill’s Slade - Mama Weer All Crazee Now (live in Austria 2025)

Dave Hill has certainly toned down his stage image now. Back in Slade’s heyday he was famous (or infamous) for his…how shall I put this…let’s just say rather extravagant costumes. Apparently the other three members weren’t always too pleased with it. I remember an interview with one of them.

He told that Dave used to lock the door to his wardrobe. The other three could hear noises from inside, while they dreaded the sight of what eventually would appear. Ever so often, when Dave finally revealed the costume of the day, they just went “Oh no…”

Did you know that James Hetfield appeared as an actor in 2019, playing the role of Officer Bob Hayward in the movie “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile” about the serial killer Ted Bundy?

Slade - Pouk Hill (1970)

Got into some Slade tonight, and they have some more melodic songs too, in between all those roof raising rocking tunes. Here’s an old favourite :beer_mug:

Here is an unplugged (and imo outstanding) performance by Bonnie, accompanied on guitar by her husband, Taylor Sims.

Yes, that’s a good song. Funny to think about today, but I didn’t like it when it was released. Back then my music had to be loud with electric guitars :guitar: :joy:

It’s finally April and even though it’s still chilly, spring is definitely here.

Did you know that Johnny Cash had a kid brother who also had a career in music? I did not, until today!

His name was Tommy Cash (1940-2024), and his career was a little more low-key than his legendary big brother, to put it mildly. Still he had a several minor hits in the country charts in the US and Canada in the decade between 1968 and 78. His career didn’t stop there, he released records and toured until around 2016.

I had to do some investigation here, and it turns Tommy Cash has done some decent country music. One can hear he’s the brother of Johnny Cash. Then again, one can also hear that he’s the kid brother. Still, he is a decent singer with decent songs.

Tommy Cash has also recorded a tribute to his big brother.
