Happy Birthday to Joan Baez, who is turning 85 today! :wine_glass:

Joan Baez, Paul Simon and Richard Thompson - The Boxer (live 2016)

This recording is from Joan Baez 75th birthday celebration 10 years ago.
It seems Paul Simon wrote a new verse for the occasion.

Now the years are rolling by me
The are rocking easily
I am older than I once was
And younger than I’ll be
But that’s not unusual
No, it isn’t strange
After changes upon changes
We are more or less the same
After changes we are
More or less the same

David Bowie passed away 10 years ago today :smiling_face_with_tear: :wine_glass:
It’s often said about him that he was ahead of his time.

One of the first two albums I listened to (literally) was David Bowie’s The Man Who Sold the World. It was late summer/early autumn in 1973. Bowie brings back memories for me, big time  :musical_notes:

If anyone interested, the other album was Made in Japan by Deep Purple. I remember to this day what my favourite song was.

Deep Purple - Strange Kind of Woman (live 1972)

Damn, it is strange to think about today, that it was less than one year since the album was released when I listened to it for the first time. :smiling_face_with_tear: :musical_notes:

I actually only came across David Bowie when I saw him in the German film “Christiane F. - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo”.

He sang “Heroes” in this film.

Bowie goes all the way back for me. I blame him, Deep Purple…and Slade, Suzi Quatro and Status Quo for making me the totally hopeless music nerd I am today :guitar: :drum: :musical_notes:

Looking back today, I’m pretty fine with that :joy:

Deep Purple, Slade, Suzi Quatro, and Status Quo were among my favorites back then. David Bowie was still unknown to me in the early 70s. He didn’t have any hits that were played on German radio at that time. In my early days, I mainly listened to the charts on the radio and recorded songs on cassette, since I didn’t have enough pocket money for records…
