So it literally ‘starts’ in absolute silence? One wonders how we are supposed to know it HAS started, in that case!!! I also can’t help wondering what on earth was going on in the mind of the guy who composed the piece in the first place.
the question must be…what is going on in the mind of the people who take this bullshit seriously
Before we get back to the more common three-five minutes songs, we could meet somewhere in the middle with a song that lasts…not for an eternity, but longer than usual
Today it’s 12 years ago that The Doors’ keyboardist Ray Manzarek passed away at the age of 74. So as a tribute to his memory, here’s thirteen minutes and eighteen seconds of The Doors, live at the Isle of Wight festival in 1970
The Doors - When the Music’s Over
when the music of somebody is played public, the one get’s money.
may be he wanted to get a long lasting pension , inheritable to offspring. i wonder how much that is.
As Mary Hopkins sang “Those Were the Days”. As mentioned earlier I was there. To be honest I have to say that The Doors was not my greatest concert experience during these days. They were two days “delayed” due to a lawsuit in the US. They seemed tired after the trip but they recovered a bit eventually. They were filmed (as shown above) but did not allow camera lighting during their performance. It is only the stage lighting that looks worse on the film than it was but not quite good. But as a “fan” of the band it was an experience all the same. It was also the last concert with Jim Morrison in Europe!
Around 2:30 am The Who came on stage (very good gig) so it was a tiring and now a memorable night.
Agnes and Neo just got married…
Allow me something a little special today, as this day turned out bad for me. This morning I got to know that one of my best, oldest and dearest friends has passed away. He was found dead in his apartment yesterday. We were friends for over 40 years. I’m done with phone calls and texts now, so may I just share a little here with you.
He was diagnosed with cancer shortly before to Easter, so we all knew he was sick. We just didn’t realize how serious it was. He seemed to be doing well considering the situation, with a very positive attitude. I spoke to him on the phone last Saturday, and we were planning what to do for my coming birthday. So this came sudden.
My friend was a music nerd like me. We exchanged ideas, songs and records all the time. Some of the best concerts I’ve been to was together with him. Among his favourites were what he often referred to as “the three big H’s”, that is Harvey, Hunter and Harley. In my friends memory I’d like to share one song with each of them.
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Hammer Song
Ian Hunter - Once Bitten, Twice Shy
Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel - The Best Years of Our Lives
It was the best years of our lives, my friend.
Damn, I’ll miss you

Lamont Dozier - Going Back To My Roots
Paul Simon - The Boy In The Bubble
Whatever, why not…today it’s…Happy Birthday to me!
Fairport Convention - Meet On the Ledge
In spite of what’s been going down this week, I’ve had a good birthday. Me, my son’s mother and a couple of other friends got together for dinner and drinks. And they paid the bill for me as a birthday gift. Keep good company, friendship and love alive
Meet on the ledge
We’re gonna meet on the ledge
When my time is up I’m gonna see all my friends
Meet on the ledge
We’re gonna meet on the ledge
If you really mean it, it all comes round again
Jadyn Rylee, Sina and Charlotte Zone - Scarborough Fair/Canticle
What a beutiful version of this old English folk song, sung by three girls.
Happy Birthday to Robert Allen Zimmerman, better known as Bob Dylan. He is turning 84 today! One of my all-time favourites, going back to when I bought Desire when it was released in the winter of 1976. I still have that copy of the LP
Bob Dylan - My Own Version of You (2020)
Bob Dylan - Man In the Long Black Coat (1989)
Bob Dylan - One More Cup of Coffee (1975)
Bob Dylan - North Country Blues (1963)
Forgive me for this extravagant post. I’d just like to share “a little” Dylan. He is really one of my biggest favourites. And he is still going strong! His next concert is tomorrow, and he is scheduled with concerts until September.
i hope you don’t mind that i add my favorite of bob.
‘The Rolling Stone lists the song at number 14 on its 500 greatest songs of all time. In 1963, Peter, Paul & Mary had a chart success with their cover version’
for a bit of variety and as the original was posted 2022 by jabbath1987 -
Peter, Paul and Mary - Blowing in the Wind
Fujii Kaze
I heard this singer, musician, composer, writer 2 years ago …
Multi influences classical, jazz, pop, traditional…
We recently talked here about the longest receorded song / bit of music.
Well I thought, by contrast I would try to find shortest recorded song. Here it is, according to the Guinness Book of Records…
We seem to have gone from the sublime to utterly rediculous with this one!!!
Genuinely one of THE most pointless things I have ever heard.
@GladNGrumpy Your shocked face emoji says it all. I was basically lost for words when I discovered that ‘song’ … actually so were the ‘performers’ by the sound of it!!!
Perhaps this is what the band was aiming for
Best thing about “the song” is that it’s over before you can even think of skipping it
???
does it not work…or is it that?
not really what i expected as ‘best song today’
i just scrolled up a bit and…read the text
Yes that was it. As I said to begin with, I was looking for the shortest song to contrast it with what we were discussing here recently… the longest one.
