I keep talking about threads while you talk about tabs.
I open a tab in my browser and have the forum in it. Then I click on a thread I want to read. And if there are mainly pictures in there, I would like to be able to hide the pictures by clicking on the work mode button.
If I then switch to another thread and there are only a few pictures there, I want to see them and don’t have to hide them.
The tabs you mentioned don’t matter at all. I have a tab with the forum, another with the VHTV stream page and a few others in the browser, but they have nothing to do with the forum here.

Threads to me, are all the posts on one tab.
Nope, I only have one tab open for the forum. But even if I opened several, it would have nothing to do with the function we are talking about here.
Yes it would as once the mode is on it is on for all open tabs.
You are only registered once in the forum and any changes you make in one tab are automatically transferred to all other tabs. You can already see that when you get a notification, it is also displayed in all tabs.
It seems you and i work in slightly a different way.
I have one tab open for the forum home page.
Then i click on the notification icon and right click on each apartment i want to view and then open in a new tab so i end up with all the notifications i want to read in separate tabs.
Then i close any one i have finished with.
It may sound a bit convoluted but it suits me.
Well, everyone does it the way they like it. 
For me it would be quite confusing, since I usually have around 15 to 20 tabs open. 
As i do so what are we arguing about
