VHTV and the Chamber of Chatters

Even worse than that in a village you know, can get very interesting

I’m originally from a village and everybody knew everything about everybody else and all family history. You almost couldn’t fart without someone knowing . I don’t think it is intentionally being nosey it’s just that everyone grew up together in a very tightknit community and everybody knew everybody else, literally.

I have lived now in a town for years now and whilst the same thing does exist it’s not in such a widespread way. You only really know most people well generally, in local area’s. Obviously you know some in other parts as well depending on how you mix.
Many people these days seem to be more insular and don’t mix as much as they used to.

Ha ha but in a very small community it is very difficult to keep most things that secret. Where i was brought up was in a small fishing village and to be honest, compared to these days it was a lovely upbringing i must admit.
Often wish i still lived there but am not far away so still visit regularly and keep in touch.
Sad thing is many of my generation are long time passed now, some very young to.
Then they do say the good ones die young

I still don’t know all my neighbours in this small cul-de-sac of 20 houses, and I’ve lived here for over 35 years… mind you, most of the neighbours are now ‘new’, so I guess that I can be forgiven to some extent. ???

Out of the 20 houses, only 2 or 3 other ‘neighbours’ were living here 35 years ago… my ‘next-door’ neighbours have changed 3 times on one side and twice on the other side in that time. :house: :adult: :house:

This is what is referred to as a ‘cathedral city’. There are many cities without a cathedral. City status is granted by the monarch, upon application by a particular town to be granted ‘city status’ (not all applications in a year are granted).
As of 22 November 2022, there were 76 cities in the United Kingdom — 55 in England, seven in Wales, eight in Scotland, and six in Northern Ireland. Another in England was added in the following year.
