For @CNGSpot that would actually be absolutely no risk. Assuming they make $ 100 a month, they’ll have to pay $ 5 rent for the cams. That’s fair.
As I understand I need Cameras, a microcurrent, a switch an uninterruptible power supply and a cable. I got this list going over my email on needed equipment. Now having this public may help others. Can I get more details on this equipment? Seems a bit more hi-tech than my current set-up, but I am willing to learn and expand.
As far as I know switch has to support PoE. And you need more than one ethernet cable. One cable per cam
UPS personally I use the ones from APC. I can recommend them. They also have overcurrent protection.
I think the only way this will work is if I get all the equipment sent and I pay it off as we earn money. Looking at the prices on the equipment, this can get very expensive.
That is the recommended way to do it. How many cams you will need?
I am not sure. We are in a 2 Bed, 2 Bath apartment. 12 cams would put 2 in each room. 10 would put 2 in each room and 1 in each bathroom.
2 cams in each room is not enough.
I can give you a rough overview how cams are usually placed:
- Kitchen: 2 cams (When bigger 3 cams)
- Bedroom: 3 cams (Bed front, bed left, bed right)
- Livingroom: Depends on size. At least 3 for the sofa and for the rest according so there is no blindspot
- Bathroom: Small one cam, bigger two cams
- Loggia / Balcony: One or two depending on size
- Hallway / Stairs: One for each hallway / stairs (no blindspots should be left)
- Special areas / outside areas secluded from neighbors: Cams according to eliminate blind spots and hiding areas.
So now you can calculate how much you need
I agree for the most part. A kitchen could go with one cam though. If it is small, a living room could also work with 2 or 3 cams. I would much rather prioritize 2 cams in the bathroom.
Most apartments on VHTV got this wrong in my opinion. They might have 4 close up view of the sofa, but only one distant overview cam in the bathroom.
I hope you find a way to work this out… really looking forward that this will happen
Okay, the link below is our current lay out. We are moving to another building in March. I will also link that layout. Lets get suggestions please.

Here’s a really optimistic scetch I made just now, on the spot. It could probably be reduced abit without compromising too much, if I have time to put my head into it. BTW. What do you think @stanley? You are the expert on cam angles!
Take 2, reduced by a couple.
Your first one is very close to mine.
That is a lot of cameras and cables. I think if this is going to happen, we might as well wait until we get moved into our new place in February. This will also give us time to finalize the details.
Best is to use cable ducts for it. Makes a more clean cable setup. Or sometimes it is possible to hide cables behind the skirt boards of the floor when easily removable.
Are they swingers? If they are, it might be interesting.
Good to get some behind the scenes context from this thread. I suppose as well, the difference in country earnings expectations means that for people based in the USA this sort of thing is more viable as a source of additional passive income. Perhaps that could be marketed directly somehow to attract more people from the other timezones.
I do not know that…
As per what they said.
