The Eurovision Song Contest

Congrats

Not my birthday

Can you answer a question? All songs in Portugal are a step from falling into depression or when you have one you send it to Eurovision?:joy::joy: I dont remember any uptempo song for years

I loved all the Portoguese song entries from the last years. Different but nice.

We are the “Fado” country, you should try to hear it then talk about depression  (especially the ones from last century

Like i said i don’t know (or ever heared) this song, but i read good things about it and even good reviews about it on the “bet list”

Still this type of songs normally are the most successful ones. When it goes silly songs from euroelectropopvision song contest normally they don’t for further the semi-finals.

And the only time we won were with one of the most fabulous song that arrived to there. It’s way more interesting (IMO) when comparing (as example) to the chickens song that won the contest when was here in Lisbon

Also liked that one. It is a bit faster.

I dont have problem with a low and slow song if there is some beat at some part of it for exaple the song that won from Netherlands. The song that Portugal won i was curious how even it made it to the final

Fado? I dont understand

Fado is a traditional Portoguese song. Similar to the French “Chanson”

From the past, from the greatest of all times

From the new generations you have Mariza, Ana Moura ( I prefer more the new generations)

But just to “explain” that this style ends up being in the sole of many of the artists cause ends up being our roots

I had the same though, specially for being such a good and different song from the usual “electro parade disco nights parties” that goes to eurovision

And don’t think that when he won the national contest there was a lot of people criticizing about the music, that it would be a shame for us putting that music there, the guy looks lunatic, that we would be at last place, bla bla bla . If i’m not wrong, in all the contest story (till that year, don’t know it still applies) ends up being the winner with most top votes.
I guess what make the difference was exactly that, was different, was music with a guy and his mic, not big ridiculous scenarios, was something more intim. In that year on youtube even before the main contest there was hundreds of videos with people doing covers of the song

Its the first time i hear both of the but i have to say that the older song is much better her voice is awesome.

Usually often the most different or controversial song wins. Because it gets most attention.

I dont blame the quality of the song. I wanted to point the fact that it is all the same type every year. I would like to see something different. I also have to say that i really admire that Portugal almost always send a song only in Portuguesse and I feel a little jealous

I don’t know if you ever visited Lisbon (capital) or if you are the beach tourist or more cultural tourist. But in case you liked Amalia, if you ever visit Lisbon, search for a “Casa de Fado”, it’s a typical restaurant in typical lisbon spots where they have live music

Well too bad you missed the visit in 2004… You would have listen Fado and take the euro cup back with you

Too bad i was 14 years old to come there but the good thing is that i was old enough to remember. Lisbon is on my shortlist of cities to visit and I want to see a game at Da Luz stadium
