You can’t leave a dog like you can a cat. Cats are independent creatures capable of entertaining themselves with plotting global domination.
Dogs are social animals and need constant companionship, as a working dog trainer, I’m saying that four hours is the most a dog should be left alone in one stretch. after that they get destructive and start pining. Certainly no more than eight hours but that’s really pushing it and should be the exception not the rule. bearing in mind that dogs don’t use litter trays and will shit and piss everywhere if they can’t get outside.
You also need to realise that a dog with anxiety will go for the last thing you touched as that has the strongest aroma of you on it. if you want things to remain intact, don’t leave them lying around.
Basic rule is thus: if you can’t be arsed to look after a companion don’t have a fucking animal. Just don’t. You are fucking up that animal’s head, building in psychological problems and trouble for everyone in the long term.
Going to live a life where you’re out half the time? Get a cat.
Stay at home sort, get a dog.
lazy fucker who can’t be arsed with any of it, get a rodent and watch it starve to death and slowly go mad in a stinking cage that’s bereft of stimuli and reeks of piss.
it’s really that simple.
