Well, it is known to happen. Take me, somewhere between 25 and 30 years ago, I went from a pony tail halfway down my back to a shaved head in 25-30 minutes.
On the other hand, I’ve never visited a hair dresser since then, so you may have point there.

I had hair back…well, sooooo long ago that was down to the bottom of my shoulder blades . The girls loved brushing and bradding it lol. Well it all disappeared when joined the service. I like many back in the day had long hair. My course got in late at night, in the morning still in our civilian cloths we were marched to the mess hall. Other recruits that had been for a while teased us of course lol. And some warned us about the barber with the glasses!! Well when we walked in for out haircuts, well…they ALL had glasses! 
Needless to say after our haircut there were guys I didn’t recognize anymore!
After 26 years in the service now always keep my hair short. And wall into retirement I still have all my hair

As for me, at one point I just wanted to get rid of my long hair, and decided it’s all or nothing. Then I had a girlfriend shaving my head. I never planned for it to stay that way, but then I founf out I liked it. I never looked back, and I’ve been a baldhead for well over 30 years now. 
Imagine all the money I’ve saved on shampoo and hair dressers. Come to think of it, imagine may be word here. I’ve probably wasted it on something else
To my own personal defense, I most probably waste my money wisely.
