When the guest couple was in the livingroom, Merida went in, followed by Henry, telling her some harsh words, and as it seemed trying to press her into a conversation.
I have no clue what they were talking about, but it seemed, that there was tension between them. I did not see what you discribed, but yes, Merida was all around Chyna the last days she spent @ Shana, and when Chyna was sitting in the kitchen almost crying after a phone call, Merida comforted her.
I agree, it looks like Merida feels attracted by Chyna, and Chyna specially adressed Merida in the hall when she left.
