Recurring Subs

I could see any threads about this unless I’m blind.

However, can I ask why VHTV decided to make recurring payments mandatory?

Nobody can answer that here. Please write to support

Most online services are currently using auto renewing subscriptions for various reasons, and we decided to do the same after consulting with business analysts. However, user can easily cancel your subscription at any time through personal area or by contacting our support team

Known as “Inertia Selling” People will often forget or neglect to do anything to cancel, so it rolls on… That is why many services i.e. car insurance are so keen on it

Does that mean that the bitcoin payment option is going to be removed? It’s my only payment option, bitcoin however doesn’t support recurring payments.

The BitCoin payment option will stay untouched of course

I can appreciate your response about recurring subscriptions.

It appears that there have been other changes that premium subscribers aren’t aware of.

  1. My recurring sub was charged to my account USD 39.95 then denied by my bank and only then was I contacted to let them know that the charge was valid.
  2. I contacted verotel to request they reprocess the charge because when this happened to me in the past and I submitted a new oayment I ended us with 3 months of double charges (yes Gollom - Inertia took 3 months for me to notice). Verotel said that they do not initiate the charges.
  3. I contacted VHTV and was told to place a new purchase
  4. I started and then just before submitting I realized the price was different. The change was from a USD 39.95 to EUR 39.95
  5. I contacted VHTV to find out how to reprocess at the USD 39.95 rate as was attempted the day before.
  6. Response from VHTV: Unfortunately, due to recent economic shifts and regulatory changes impacting fees related to current US government policies, we can no longer sustain USD payments without incurring losses. As a result, all transactions will now be processed exclusively in EUR.

This adjustment is necessary given the current exchange rates and projected trends. While we understand this may not be ideal for some customers, it allows us to maintain stability and continue providing quality service.
7. This confuses me simply because the recurring charge was attempted in USD but the response makes it seem like this was an accross the board rate increase that I heard nothing about. If this was for new subscribers only then when my bank, for whatever reason suspected fraud and decided to deny the charge prior to my approving it, I’m kicked into the new rate?
8. If VHTV accepted Paypal I would never have had this issue but I’ve had this issue using a variety of banks where VHTV always falls under their questioned out of country transactions.
9. If VHTV consulted with business analysts, were calculations made regarding the cost to acquire a subscriber? Was an additional calculation made as to the cost to retaiin a premium subscriber ? On the retention side were considerations discussed regarding the need to be able to grandfather a recurring subscription price and how to adjust it back if the transaction failed for whatever reason to maintain the grandfathered rate?
10. I’m pretty sure that premium subscribers don’t grow on trees for VHTV and as part of the retention cost I believe that part of the VHTV response to me should have elaborated on why the automatic charge was against USD but my attempt to correct it was in EUR, Nothing addresses the currency basis to be for new subscribers vs ongoing or if this was to apply to all subscribers. Yes, I received a responce but it really wasn’t a response if you think about it. Even further, if I placed the transaction with the new currency basis would I start being double billed once to USD and once to EUR next month as I mentioned the double billing above? I’d be interested to see the statistics on premium subscriber retenion and reasons why. Do subscribers drop because of participants or administration issues?
