Very much appreciate the pictures, but the video didn’t work. It wouldn’t play at all in the browser. I just got a black screen.

When I downloaded it and played it offline, it just showed the same image for 5 minutes and 14 seconds with absolutely no movement whatsoever.

I keep having that issue (I am sure you remember seeing me allude to that, elsewhere quite recently) and with me, it often says something about a codec. I still have no idea what one of those is or how to solve it.

I guess the video might be coded using h.265 codec. Not every browser will play it. Works fine in Chrome for me.

I am still none the wiser as I don’t know what a codec is! I plead total ignorance where such technicalities are concerned.

Codec stands for compression/ decompression. For example, when you download a file from the internet using your browser, the file is automatically compressed to make it smaller, and thereby faster to download. When the file reaches its destination, it’s then decompressed, so that you get the entire file.

If you create a video file, even by converting it to a different format, typically you can choose the codec used to compress/decompress the file. However, due to the expense of licensing the H265 codec, some browsers can’t play a video that uses that codec.

That may not necessarily be your problem when you run into a video that won’t play, I was just explaining about what a codec is and does.

One way to fix a video that won’t play in your browser is to use a different browser, e.g. sometimes a video that won’t play in Firefox, will play in Chrome.

I hope that’s helpful. Feel free to ask questions. I can’t guarantee I can answer them all.

Thank you for explaining this to me. I use either Chrome or Edge browser on my device (just a laptop - I don’t have access to any others (neither in terms of devices or for that matter, other browsers)) so I guess I am limited in that regard. I find the majority of videos play without issue, it’s just some that seem to like to misbehave!

Ironically though, those have been some of the ones in which I have been most interested and wanted to watch!!!

I’ve had the same problem and more often than not, just rebooting my computer fixes the problem. I think the memory just runs out because it’s Windows!
