I can’t recall ever having the emotional attachment to knowing that someone was going off to war like I have here. My day was Vietnam and I put in my Army time early. That meant that I was back in the U.S. when many of my friends and associates departed to put in their time. I always was sort of “Okay. Good luck.” But in no case did I think much about it. With Lucas, I know that I am going to put in some real honest worry and concern. I can tell by other replies that a lot of folks will be hoping and praying for his safe return… and also for his fellow soldiers.

The conditions of war are always difficult
many of us were very lucky we had not lived at least near us… a war so big, a war that we don’t know what end it will be…
it’s natural and seeing someone live going on a mission to the front line is not the most pleasant thing that can happens to someone and I hope it’s the last one we see in our life time…
