@kaya I hope once all three places (Small house, big house, outside area) are online a “lessons learned” session will be conducted and everything will be made accessible for all the tech departments and also other studios so we dot run into issues like that in the future anymore.
Some kind of internal knowledge database would be great
What a good idea, an “internal knowledge database”
This comment ironically perfectly describes the mess that VH is in right now.
As a start what about making support work in weekends when running a million dollar organisation having thousands of customers paying monthly? Or not having community managers give BS answers WHEN THEY DON’T KNOW mr Jabbath?
I think they know at this point it’s unfixable which why suddenly after people in the temptation forum (including me) were saying how boo👻ring it is suddenly people from this realm are sleeping over and having foursomes it’s all very transparent at this point. I’d be very surprised if this realm ever comes on again.
The last update about that was @kaya stating that this house has more camera’s hence more connections. That can never be the main reason, which is still pretty vague at this point.
Only thing we know for a fact is whatever @jabbath1987 says you can take with a whole heap of salt concerning what the problem is/when they come live again.
Oh, I’d think we can trust Jabbath to know what he’s talking about… especially since I have a hunch about where the problem lies, among other things:
2 buildings (or even 3 if you include the outdoor area in the future), but only one property. So probably only one internet connection…
The number of cameras per realm seems to be limited on VH, so it has to be more than one realm. But the software doesn’t seem to want to run smooth with more than one realm on one connection with one IP; it’s not designed for that… so a solution must first be found. How this can be regulated in the routers for each realm… I have no idea; I don’t know enough about what software is running inside and what it allows…
The simplest option might be a separate internet connection for each realm. But it’s also the most expensive option… if it’s even technically feasible in this region. So first try to see if you can ‘train’ the software accordingly.
Without getting to techy since we’re just thinking out loud here; but its still pretty easy to get multiple internet connections at the same residence or to improve the bandwidth (if this is offered). There’s no rule you can only have one provider per household, and in theory they are multiple houses so they should be able to set up a different connection per realm/house.
Its also pretty strange they didn’t really look into this, as it appears to be among the most important thing you’d think…
As I said: even it’s feasible here, we have no idea if or how it’s possible in this region.
I suspect that the residents had other things in mind during the move (although the IT problem is more likely to be resolved by IT than by the residents), and the problems only became apparent when the cameras were supposed to go into operation…
We’re not talking about rocket science here, its simple an ISP connection which has the stats to what you order. My guess is that it’s probably a money issue as bigger (professional) bandwidths usually cost alot more then the general ones you and I use, but again, you’d think they would have looked into this…
Besides… it’s just my guess, which seems logical, but doesn’t have to be correct… but as long as it says ‘there are IT problems,’ my guess is as good as any other. And this ‘2-3 realms’ thing is, in any case, the most obvious difference between this property and all other realms.
True. But apparently only one line. I have the feeling that the receiving side of the VPN has a problem being addressed by more than one router on the same IP. As a layman, I would simply assign different ports, but since I don’t know the routers or the VPN yet, I suspect that’s where the problem lies.
Let’s not forget that routing VPN connections out of Mordor is already a problem…
