Let's talk about VIDEO EDITING and videos in general

That looks interesting, thank you. I’ll definitely give that a try.

Though I suspect I’m going to stick to shotcut for most cases, simply because I’m so used to the handling by now. And I have to admit, most of my gifs I have been doing at the 25 fps of the source material, which is overkill. Only today I’ve decided to try 12.5 fps as my new default, because this here actually is absolutely fluid enough for the purpose.

my tool of choice is

can also convert mp4 to gif …

how many fps you set is ultimately a matter of taste. I prefer 25 in most cases, but sometimes a lower number can serve as a stylistic device. But to each his own. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m going to test it as a screen recorder. I’ve been looking for a suitable one for years and haven’t been satisfied with any of them so far. Most of them were just too complicated to use for simple recordings or had annoying logos.

It is a great converter, but it is MUCH more than that. The number of things you can do with GIF files seems almost endless. You can sharpen it, slow it down, speed it up, work with individual frames, the list goes on and on.

Here are just a few of the things you can do.

It can also do these things, and that still just the tip of the iceberg.

I know that he can do much more. However, I only wanted to sell Julio a glass of milk and not a whole cow.

Video effects on social media

I could bite myself in the ass every time I see the simple means with which the so-called “creators” achieve thousands and thousands of clicks and earn money with it…
Today I was shown a video with the so-called anxiety mirror trend made on capcut. But what this has to do with anxiety is a mystery to me.

Only thing making me anxious is how unnatural this girl looks.

Really? To me she’s not that bad. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, it’s all that makeup muck she’s got plastered all over her face. I guess without it, THAT is where her own feelings of being anxious come from. Then again, what would I know about ‘pretty’ girls?!

The anxiety is in the song fragment. As far as I can tell these video trends on short clip platforms such as TikTok or youtube shorts basically are people doing the same thing to the same song fragment that other people have done before. In this case being in front of a mirror and edit it so your reflection acts differently from you. The key to success lies in being a mildly attractive girl, being quick enough to jump onto every new such trend that emerges and keeping it short enough for even the shortest of attention spans.

If people are interested enought to watch the entire 13 seconds of that video without swiping it away, the algorithm will show them videos that other people who watched this entire video have also watched. That’s how you get hundreds of virtually identical videos with lots of views each.

I’ll come clean, I’ll confess. I don’t have TikTok, but it happened to me quite a few times that I clicked on some click-baity Youtube short and then was sucked into that part of youtube for hours. Completely lost time. It became an annoyance. You know what I did? I configured my ad blocker to eliminate all the previews of shorts on the youtube page. Problem solved.

Here’s a mildly interesting video on time loss and attention spans on clip platforms, and how it creates a generation of mindless zombies. Ironically, the way this video is made, a slideshow of illustrations, I think it caters exactly to the same ADHD audience.

Hi, does anyone know if there is a way to amplify the sound in a video using shotcut or bandicam? (or other program)

https://online-video-cutter.com/de/volume

In Shotcut you make most modifications by applying filters to either the single clips in your editing timeline or whole timeline tracks. The filter for basic volume adjustment is called “gain”, you can also try the “normalize” filters.

Thanks bro!

Got it, thanks!

I have noticed with streaming cams that the picture quality sometimes has what I call very annoying interference. I have no idea whether this term is correct.

I would be interested to know what the problem is and how to describe this picture interference. It’s not due to my laptop or my internet connection, as I experience this problem with maybe 5% of streaming cams at most. I suspect that the person streaming has a poor internet connection. But as I said, I have no idea. I would appreciate feedback if anyone is familiar with this.

Here is an example video:

I assume that’s the case.
