Feedback: I don’t blame any of the Tenets in any apartment for what’s happening in Ukraine, but I cannot, in good conscience, contribute to the site or individual apartments. It’s a little tough to see them partying and carrying on while innocents are being slaughtered by Russian military. in another country. Yes, I’m American, and my country sucks too, but I don’t have a camera in my apartment. I just needed to get it off my chest. Now you can bombard me with criticism, but I won’t respond to any negativity or hurtful rhetoric.
Having the same thoughts
I can understand your feelings, but you have to realise they’re not just partying, they’re earning a living, for most of them, it’s their job. I don’t suppose you quit yours over the war in Ukraine, so you can hardly expect the participants to do so.
There is no negativity from me and I hear you living in Poland as I do and I have heard some things personally from Ukrainian people which are horrific. But as far as I know, most of the apartments are against this war and at least one of them has been beaten at protests in Russia.
People are creatures of habit and even in times of adversity they try to maintain normality in their lives - it too has run past my mind how can they party on without any thought of what is happening, but I cannot f___e them to go out and protest and risk imprisonment. There is no easy solution to any of this and it is frustrating to the extreme but they are normal people who just want a life and try to make the best of it as they have no other choice.
Maybe we are exploiting them for our voyeuristic needs and that is a thought that has run through my mind as well - I really don’t have any solutions for you and your heart will tell you what to do.
what do you want them to do?
I, too, thought long and hard on the decision to subscribe, when the country men of these participants are waging war, but in the end I decided that these people are only trying to live a life in a country that they don’t really have any means of changing, It can’t be an easy choice to have other watching you all the time, so for this I admire them. And I am sure that these participants don’t want the war any more than we do,
I think that might be a common misconception here, just because Russian is the chosen language doesn’t mean all these apartments are actually in Russia
I am aware that not all are in Russia, Unless Russia has had a global shift and is now GMT-5, but one would be safe to assume a large proportion of them are actually in Russia.
Weren’t you still watching your American TV and enjoying life when the USA invaded Iraq and Afghanistan? Asking for a friend!
And that is the misconception
If you say so, I can’t be bothered to discuss this further, you will obviously disagree with what ever I say.
First of all, I understand your concerns and I hate to see what´s happening to the Ukrainian population. On the other side I think the discussion is a bit hypocritical (no offense). Most of us live in democratic and free states with freedom of speech and more or less free media. Also, most of us live in states which are on top of the food chain. That means that we all wash our hands in b___d every single day. We exploit other country´s for our way of live. People die every single day for our way of live. That´s the law of capitalism. May I ask you how you lived when the USA bombed Yugoslavia and Iraq? May I ask you how you lived when Obama k__led civilians with drones? USA is the largest trader of weapons. American weapons k__l people in Yemen every day. USA is destabilising Middle and South America for decades. I could go on for hours. As you said, your country sucks too (so does mine by the way). So, what do you do? Are you hiding under your blanket for the crimes of your country or do you live on? If you look through the fog you will see, that live sucks and that the world is a mess. You can live in fear and depression or you just go on. As free-living people with freedom of speech we have at least the opportunity to make it a better place. You can become a political activist or establish a social project to help the people who are not lucky to have our privileges. For me it´s extremely hard to judge the Russian society. It´s easy for us to say they have to stand up and fight against their system. We are not threatened with prison, gulag or death.
So suppose you burned TV and Netflix too?
Innyour opinioni its wrong that someone not involve not involved in a tragic event, where nothing can be done from his side, keep up his Life?
You know how much Ukraine staff we have?
I have some friend among the guys, and honestly I think what I wrote it’s very offensive for all here.
Plus, of just becouse war exist you are so sad, maybe you can gather up some info on recentnwarninntha world so you can also feel bad for PAST happines xD
Hector
I am not sure if you are generalising here Hector or directing this toward certain posters?
I think most of us know that there are many Ukrainian staff here Kaya being the prominent staff member that we see on these forums and bless her heart, all of us want her and her family as safe as possible and that goes for the rest of the staff.
These are awful times with so many confusing emotions on how to act and what you actually can do to make a difference - but by boycotting the Russian channels people are inadvertently putting the jobs and only source of income at risk for many Ukrainian people who work for VHTV as well.
People will have to make their own decisions about what to do but maybe those decisions shouldn’t be voiced in public and kept private.
It’s not there fault the soldiers are doing what they are doing
